Loneliness
Why does loneliness destroy us so painfully… I just want to be around people and be accepted. On the other hand I’m too scared of what could potentially happen and what other people might do . How do you find real friends and make it last?
Hiya @SnowwyKai, welcome to the community. I find that quite relatable and can understand the conundrum when it comes to welcoming people in to feel less lonely and feeling scared to do it because it's gonna get lonely again, if they leave.
I feel, loneliness can be deeply painful because humans are inherently social beings. We thrive on connections and shared experiences. The fear of rejection or being hurt can magnify loneliness, creating a cycle that's hard to realise and break. You're definitely not alone in this.
I think it's easier to find friends when we are more open to let people in, and may help to socialize, engage in activities yall enjoy, connecting with those with shared experiences. This naturally aligns you with people who share common interests too. Be genuine and open, but set healthy boundaries too. Building trust takes time, so being patient is key.
Friendships can also be strengthened by being a good listener, showing empathy, and offering support. Opening up, expression and vulnerability can be scary, but it's a crucial part of deep, lasting connections, I feel.
Remember, meaningful relationships are built on mutual respect and understanding. And personally for me, a whole lot of "it's okay if we don't talk regularly, but you still have me in your corner, always".
How do you feel about these suggestions?
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou, I totally agree with you that it's easier to make friends when you are more open to letting them in!
