hey! im in need of advice. although this is not all of my friends, ive seen a consistent bunch of my friends bringing down my self esteem. some of them say really mean things like “youre not special, you dont matter.” and im not sure what to do. my self esteem is already low, because for a large period of my life ive faced the exact same comments from family members. i need some advice. how do i deal with this? any tips would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

@sprout123

no friends talk to each other like that. friends are there to build you up. you may consider disconnecting from them, and sooner than later. <3

@sprout123 Hey Sprout. If people told me I'm not special and all that I'd have a serious talk with them and either fix those relationships or better yet leave them. You don't need to hear that. It sounds like they're upset about something and deciding to push you around which isn't cool. Our feelings toward others and especially how they treat us is important and should be discussed in a calmly manner. Thank you for telling us.

If it was past me, I would confront them. But, at a point, you would eventually realize, there is no point in doing so.

Because it comes to mind the question of:

Since when were they thinking about this?

What made them even think of this about me?

Something I picked up on people is that the way they talk or act to others is often a reflection of how they would treat other people. In short, it's more of a projection that exists within their inner world. This is also a reflection of how they feel about you, so no, its no longer a matter you should stay with them.

I would suggest distancing yourself or cutting these people off since they aren't good for you.
