Trust issues

How do you let yourself trust people enough to make friends? I've been betrayed by so many who claimed to be my friend that I don't make friends anymore and whenever people ask to be friends I say no because the same thing always happens and besides my partner and cat I've partially grown content being alone, I'll admit a part of me longs for friends but I can't go through another betrayal again.

@indigoDog4146 That sounds really painful — being betrayed by people you trusted can make it so hard to open up again. It’s completely understandable that you protect yourself now.
You don’t have to rush into trusting people; it’s okay to take things slowly and let others show you they’re safe. It’s also okay to feel content with your partner and your cat — that’s still meaningful connection.
You deserve friendships that feel safe and mutual, and it’s possible to find that again, one small step at a time.

It hurts so much and I want to trust people but it's just so hard after everything I've been through.

I was always betrayed by friend because I over share my secrets and things I shouldn't tell. You can keep healthy relation with your friends but you should keep boundaries. I hope it helps. I made a friend but with certain boundaries now we are both Happy.

I really understand how that feels. Being betrayed by people you trusted can completely change the way you see friendship. It’s okay to protect your heart and take your time — healing doesn’t have a deadline.

I think it’s good that you’ve found comfort in your partner and your cat, and it’s also natural to still want friends. Maybe one day, you’ll meet someone who values you the same way you value them slowly, gently, and without betrayal. Until then, be kind to yourself. You deserve safe, honest connections. 💙
