What do I do in this situation?

My friend hasn't been doing well since February and I wanna help but him out because I'm worried, but im mentally unstable rn and he doesn't want me to help him at all. But even when I'm better again he might not take the help. Im really worried as he hasn't ever spoken of wanting to go through with ending his life and when I mentioned how I wanted to help he said "You aren't allowed to help me, if I die I die" with an emoji of an among us character dancing. Which then just threw me off because he's not one to joke and hates jokes about that type of subject, and he's never wanted to go through with it. Now I'm just worried its all gonna get to him and he will attempt. I wanna help him but he doesn't want it and I don't wanna make him mad as well. So what do I do? Do I just wait?
