my guy bestfriend…
So there’s this guy I’ve been really close to for a while now. We’ve shared so many moments that felt like something more the kind that make your heart skip. Like during a night out, he’d fix my hair, hold my hand, dance closely with me, protect me from crowds, or wraps me from his arm in a couch, while looking at other girls. We’d talk about personal stuff, laugh until our sides hurt, and sometimes it just feels like we get each other in a way no one else does.
But then there are times when he acts like nothing ever happened just the same teasing, playful guy around our friends, making jokes, treating me like “one of the boys.” It’s confusing because when we’re alone or when he’s had a few drinks, he becomes softer, more open, even a bit clingy. But sober? It’s like he puts a wall back up.
We’re in the same friend group, and he’s also friends with my ex, so that just makes things more complicated. I don’t want drama, I don’t want to misread things, and honestly, I’m happy with my life right now. But part of me keeps replaying those moments, wondering if he meant any of it or if he’s just naturally affectionate and I’m overthinking
I don’t know what to do. I like him, but I feel like he’s just really friendly.
@toughTriangle3893Wow, that does sound really confusing, and honestly, it makes sense that you’re feeling torn. ❤️ From what you’ve described, it seems like there’s a big difference between how he acts when it’s just the two of you versus when he’s around others. That can make it really hard to tell whether he’s actually interested or just naturally affectionate.
It’s okay to like him and still feel unsure. Those moments you shared clearly meant something to you, and that’s valid — they don’t have to be dismissed just because his behavior changes in different situations. Right now, it might help to just notice patterns instead of overanalyzing single moments. How consistent is he when he’s sober and with you alone? And also, check in with yourself: what do you actually want from this — are you hoping for more, or are you okay just enjoying his company?
You don’t have to have all the answers immediately. Sometimes it’s okay to sit with the feelings, enjoy the connection, and see where it naturally goes without pressuring yourself or him. 💛
