Pull the little metal eraser cap off and sharpen both ends to have a double pencil, sharpen both ends to a very fine point. I tell u everyone will leave your double ended pencil alone.

My classmates and I gave a hard time to our teacher concerning the pencils. From sharpening both ends, to chewing off the erasers, using a pen to decorate (initials, names, zebra stripes, dots, you name it) to coloring the wooden tips with highlighters, and wrapping the pencils in silly putty to make them nice and squishy for writing, we were quite the pencil pros. Lol
