This is a real fun thread. I often wondered where people got their names and think this is a great idea. Some usernames are somewhat self explanatory but maybe not completely and others, not a clue. So it's fun to see where people come up with their names from.
I often wondered if my username was obvious and I think from an older generation in the USA, it might be but maybe not so easy for others.

Your name is unique 👍 enough to have a thought that it must have come from a deep perspective ✨️. But tbh Idk I could only guess that it's you mentioning yourself as The Uncle because you must be sure that you're a senior in your means among others OR I don't have a better guess than Pinetreetree did 😁. Also It's good to know that you're curious about the names as well just like I do 😊.

OKOK, OK. My age comes into play because I was a teenager in the early 70s and back then everything was wrestling and Kung Fu and stuff like that.
If somebody had us pinned down or was winning where we couldn't get out of it, we would indicate that we were giving up by saying, "UNCLE". When we said UNCLE, the opponent would have to stop their aggression. But of course the defeated usually vowed to beat them next time.
When I first joined 7 cups a few years ago, I was ready to give up on life, Hence... I Say Uncle. Unexpectedly some members call me Isay and that's a pretty cool name too.
A secondary significance is I wanted to be the greatest uncle ever to a large population of nieces and nephews and I failed miserbly but vow to do better next time.... coming soon.

My user name is PineapplePeanut and it's my two cats' nicknames I gave them. I usually give my cats nicknames that have something to do with food. My past cats had nicknames of Baked Beans and Tootsie. Sometimes I don't use food as a nickname.

Mines abit deep and odd - came to 7cups nearly 6yrs ago reaching out because I felt ‘torn’
i associated this feeling with a ‘willow’ tree that is a strong memory from when I was really young. A willow tree was out my window.
I wish that you wouldn't have happen to go through such hard times 😔 ❤ so I like and respect your name's meaning. It's definitely deep. And you made an amazing name out of that ✨️ Hope that you'd feel alright 👍 😁

I felt the need to share with you, as a child, the Willow tree in our backyard was a huge part of my childhood. It was a big one. Rickety old tree forts made by kids, a rope swing swung off of a wall and had to land back on the wall and for a couple of years there, a bad septic system meant that if you didn't make it back on the wall, you know where you had to land.
The big storm blew it down and even that was an adventure, running parallel up and down the big tree trunk with all the tree branches and stuff. I've never seen another Willow tree as big as this one was.
I know it sounds all wonderful and nice but my childhood was pretty tough, welfare, physical and emotional abuse sexual abuse...... Alcoholism etc...... Just saying that Willow tree brought some magic to our lives. Sounds like yours had some real significance too.

I dare ask, but you don't have to answer (I'll understand), but how did feeling torn 6 years ago associate you with your Willow tree as a child.

@IsayUncle I actually didn’t realise the connection of the two upon making the name. Upon reflection, I think my childhood struggle around not feeling enough and abandonment resurfaced 6yrs ago when I lost sight of who I hold myself to be in the hope to be loved and find that constant and acceptance and approval.
Honestly I feel selfish saying this, I was loved and had a fortunate child hood but male figures leave and abandon me as a common trend. I don’t have confidence within self without others approval and never feel enough to any standard, then lost anything I held as a moral compass and have further ‘torn’ and feel like a swaying ‘willow’ Everything moves around me yet I feel stuck.
The willow tree did hold magic for me, I often imagined fairies and had my dream like time under. I also can literally recall watching it in storms and it never falling. I guess this is something!!

Regardless of our upbringings, becoming a people pleaser really makes it hard to function with a proactive dynamic in social settings. We shouldn't feel selfish because it appears that we have it easier than others. That's just appearances and actually could have created what we see as our own inadequacies.
I'm sorry that you had to feel such a strong sense of abandonment six years ago and probably still trying to navigate around it. But it sounds like you're getting stronger. I can understand about the Willow moving all around you and you're just standing still. That's a great analogy. I hope you can sway with the movement and bend without breaking.😊

My online name was inspired by my morbid tendencies, especially since my mother died a few years ago. When I opened an account here I wasn't 48...I was 47. I knew it was coming so why not face the facts? Speaking of facts: humans reach their physical peak at some point between 18 & 30, depending on various factors including genetics, gender, lifestyle (healthy or not), etc. But once you hit your mid-30's you start to slow down; once you're 40 the physical decline is unavoidable. The best you can do is delay it for a while. Thus the phrase "slow decline".
What I recently realised in this thread is that I feel like I could get to know atleast a very little bit of each person which is a great thing for me in a way. Anyway I don't even have words to react to your loss and feelings but still I could try to pay my respects if you'd let me ❤. Life is full of unpredictable realities so you can't control most of anything in it. What you could do is try to gently convince yourself with a conclusion about your life so that you might be able to survive without too much pressure or so. I know they might not be easy for you but still OR what else could I say? If you got me, you got me. However I'm sure that you know about these things better than me. However your reason behind your excellent name ✨️ is deep 🙌
@freshman12 I appreciate the thoughts but my mother's death wasn't actually the worst loss I've suffered, not by a mile. The last 1.5 years of her life were much more taxing for both of us (& aggravating to me); when she finally kicked the bucket, sure, I was sad. But I felt more relieved than anything else.
No...my most terrible loss came with the onset of my main chronic condition.
