A sandwich is meat and other ingredients wrapped in bread. Hence, a hotdog is a sandwich hehe

Wow. 💀💀💀

Also, still no.   Tacos aren't sandwiches because the shell/tortilla is one thing, and maybe other reasons.  Search results agree with me. 😝

There are rice balls with a different name that are shaped like sandwiches.  But standard onigiri, no. And search results agree with me again. 😁

And hotdogs aren't sandwiches because they just really aren't.  I mean, look at them.  There are three main kinds of really good hot dogs that I know of.  Chili dogs, Chicago dogs, and hot dogs with kimchi as relish (I invented that last one, but so did other people before me I guess.).  But do you want a chili or kimchi or really specific and loaded-up Chicago dog style sandwich?  No.  🤮 That would be weird and gross.  So my point stands! Bwahahha

Thank you, Internet. :P

Yes, Merriam-Webster, the USDA, and the dictionary all consider a hot dog to be a sandwich. Merriam-Webster defines a sandwich as "two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between". The USDA considers a sandwich to be meat between two pieces of bread, and the dictionary defines a burrito as a sandwich, even though it's not between two pieces of bread.

Even the language experts have issued a verdict: Merriam-Webster came down definitively on the side of yes, a hot dog IS a sandwich, because “the definition of sandwich is 'two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between.

In 2018, the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg concluded that a hot dog is indeed a sandwich while on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Kimchi is usually spicy too, and fun to make.  Add that to your list to try, because it's super good! I think so at least.

See, I think that Merriam Webster needs to work on their definition of "bun" because it's totally one piece of bread.  😜

Usually *really* spicy is what I meant to say.  Also, it can be made with radish too.  Actually I like the radish best for it personally.

@Torean

It's one piece with a cut in it. Like pita bread. hehe

So does it not being cut in half make it not a sandwich? What about Subway? They don't cut it in half, they cut it mostly apart but not quite. Does that make it not a sandwich?? :P

@jesusredeemedme2425

Good question.  I just call those subs, but the more sandwich-y and tastier ones are totally cut all the way through.  Like the one I just had from Firehouse the other day. That was a real sandwich. 😋

Also, Subway's bread is legally considered cake in some countries.  I'm not a big fan of them in general.  They used to be way better.

Yup. 😋 Because of how much sugar is in it, etc.  Honestly, there is a big taste difference between that bread and pretty much anyone else's.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Not sure. It might be a sandwich, but who knows.

It's not. If you try to invite people for "hot dog sandwiches" no one will want to eat hot dogs with you. 😜 Besides, it's a bun, not regular bread. Yes, you technically can use a slice of bread, but that's usually more of a paycheck-to-paycheck survival decision.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Probably not. When the Earl of Sandwich devised his food package idea, no frankfurter was involved. Nor was there a proper bun.
