What Made You Smile Today?

Feeding my cats. Papillon isn't particularly cuddly but he gets super affectionate around feeding time because food makes him happy (simple pleasures!). So he was standing up on his hind legs to headbutt my hand and wrapping himself round my legs whilst purring so I felt really appreciated. Arnie just meows loudly but I know he appreciates me too. To the humans I know, I'm a burden and a waste of space but to my cats, I'm the leader of the pack and the most important person they know - the giver of food and chin scratches. So that made me feel good. Papillon is such a little sweetie.

My grandpa called. I didn't want to answer, but I'm glad I did.

Catching a glimpse of two beggar children playing in the park today. It was a bittersweet feeling; even in the midst of rags, childhood found a way to percolate through the grime. Their smudged faces were stretched in innocent grins as they played tag - oblivious to their poverty and the bleakness of life. It was mesmerizing.
