Love and Kindness
Hello, everyone!
We hope you are keeping well in these unnaturally hot summers and are taking care of yourselves!
For this month’s event, our theme is love and kindness. As for the first task, I’d like you to take a second to think about what these two words mean to you. Go ahead and take your time and write your thoughts in the comments if you’d wish to do so.
Two people I asked this question said this:
X: Love and kindness to me means showing compassion to people around you.
Y: Love and kindness just means being nice and being human to the world at large. :D
Now that you’re done with the first task, let us review your, X’s, and Y’s answers. Chances are, like X and Y, you thought about something along the lines of the importance of loving people around you or how kindness to others makes the world go round, right?
If you’re shocked as to how I knew your answer, don’t worry — I’m not a mind reader. I am just someone who knows what it’s like to have compassion for others around you.
Although these two aspects of love and kindness are crucial, today we want to focus on a different, less talked about aspect of love and kindness — showing these two qualities to yourself.
Often, we don’t show ourselves the same love or kindness that we show to others. It’s important to treat yourself just as you would your best friend. If you wouldn’t scold your best friend for having a weak momentary lapse in judgement, why would you do that to yourself?
It is essential to be kind to yourself because you’re important. You deserve compassion in your life.
Here's a self-care quiz by @TheOwl00 that you can answer!
*Rate on a scale of 1 to 5* If there is an aspect that you are not interested in pursuing you can put N/A. It is completely normal to not meet all of these aspects, but let us know which one of them you would like to improve and how will you improve them.

- I make time for spirituality (in any form), mindfulness, or religious discipline.

- I drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day.

- My hair, nails and appearance are good and I like most things in my wardrobe.
- I generally wear clean clothes.
- I get together with a friend at least once a month and enjoy hobbies regularly.
- I have a relaxing routine before bed and a nurturing morning routine.

We hope we have given you something to think about through this post. As the last task, please share your thoughts on these questions:
Have you ever caught yourself being unkind to yourself? How did you deal with it?
What is one thing you like about yourself?

Have you ever caught yourself being unkind to yourself? How did you deal with it?
Taking a break is a sure way to be to kind to yourselfWhat is one thing you like about yourself?
Openness
@DonaldDraper
Yessssss 💯💯💯💯💙🤩
Being loving and kind to me means
- understanding that the person that deeply hurt you didn't so on purpose but acted out of trauma and self defence
- understanding that I did not intend to hurt that person and acted out of desperation and feeling powerless and afraid
Understanding does not mean agreeing and accepting. It means stepping in someone's shoes
Too much damage was done for my partner to deal with. Yet there is still mutual deep love, and kindness. As in, we help the other when in need, or at least offer help.

Have you ever caught yourself being unkind to yourself? How did you deal with it?
Yes sometimes I talk to myself quite harshly. I'm trying to learn to recognize when I do it and to call myself out/challenge myself on it. Eg you can't do that? Bs, you can if you want to, why not give it a try if you'd like to :)
-
What is one thing you like about yourself?
I try to understand others but I walk away when I feel disrespected. Boundaries are important.
What does love and kindness mean to you?
Love is a feeling that have many types like romantic love, platonic love, family love, friendship love, sibling love, unconditional love.
Love is the feeling that helps us socialize.
But love can sometimes be a conscious decision.
Meanwhile, kindness is an action where you are ready to love someone unconditionally and to help someone.
Love and kindness…..
I am not experienced at feeling love but those things should ALWAYS go together.
Is that not a root basis in true acceptance? Non-judgemental acceptance and the patience to try and learn and understand what makes each of us different (and the same) as the next person.
To try and ensure that all interactions are based with these two things is at the base of what we all should try and practice……Love and Kindness.
@usefulSummer3139
Love & kindness for oneself are a necessity in order to live, but for others?... One definitive lesson I've learned from experience: Whenever you show kindness & consideration to others, someone will always take advantage & turn your kindness into a weapon which (s)he will use against you. Sooner or later, it always happens.
That is why I am choosy about who I'm considerate to in real life. And the older I get, the more picky I get about that.
@slowdecline48
This is an interesting take! Sometimes our experiences lead us to different takes and that's okay too <3
@usefulSummer3139 Thanks. It's a natural (&, I think, the only sensible) conclusion to reach after you've been ripped off a few times.
