Advice about quitting a job
Hello,
I really need all the advice I can get on this situation because it is truly eating me up.
About a month ago I started a new summer camp job teaching theatre and putting on a show. The past two weeks I have been acting as the main director / teacher and if Im being completely honest I’m miserable.
I am going to school for this & I have lots of experience in my field, but this environment has drained the life out of me. I’ve never felt burnt out in my field until now. I am doing 90% of the work with absolutely no help and as a 20 year old who is still learning it is exhausting.
The lady who runs it is kind as a person, but she is critical and controlling of everything I do in the theatre. I feel as if I can’t move when she’s around. My stomach drops when she walks in the room. I feel like throwing up before I check my email in fear there’s something in there from her.
I also was asked to take my pronouns out of my email signature because parents were getting upset and reporting me. Though I am cis it still means a lot to me to have my pronouns on my email as a sign of respect for those around me.
Needless to say my mental health has drastically and rapidly declined. I need out. I cant stay, but my problem is I’m supposed to be starting a new show in a lil over a month. I feel terrible giving them such little notice & Im not sure if I should stick it out or leave.
I fear that if I try to stick it out I will breakdown mid way through and that could effect my other (stable) job, my grades, my social life.
What would you do???

s a 20 yr old you may not have the experience to know there will be those like this person in almost every job you will have in the future. They have a way they think things should go and even if you see or feel it is better to do something else in the end SHE is in charge.
this might be a good opportunity to practice dealing with this now because i can almost guarantee you will face another whom you dread seeing their email and feel they are critical of everything
She may already think you are difficult and not taking direction ... quittong last minute will confirm that.
