Anxiety in relationship

Hey everyone.

I have been with my partner for a few months now. He is a great guy. He is affectionate and very attentive to me. I’ve known him for about 3 years before we decided to be in a relationship. During that time of a 3 year friendship, he ends up getting a woman pregnant. I was shocked but he was single at the end of the day so I couldn’t be mad about it. There was no drama and he saw his kid when he was able to. We are now in a relationship and here comes the drama. The child’s mother does the most sometime. But nothing I can’t handle. He did say that he was going to work on clearing the drama. However, I just feel that she is going to try to take him away from me. She is mean to him at times than other times she is nice. She complements him in looking nice and questioning where he is going looking all nice. That just puts the jealousy emotion in me.

Moving from that situation. I still have anxiety from him. I am literally scared he will break my heart. I find myself having these thoughts. Of course we can’t be together all the time or be on the phone all the time. We both have lives. I always wonder what he is doing when he is not with me or talking to me. Am I good enough? Who is he with? Is he secretly talking to his baby mother? It’s just a whole bunch of what if’s. I don’t know if it’s from the previous “relationship” I was where this guy truly had other women and I saw it with my own eyes and yet he still lied about it. I don’t want to accuse my current partner because that is what I dealt with from the previous one. He accused me all the time when he was the one that did the dirt. I’m so sorry this is so long but guys I’m scared. I never expected this relationship to be like this. The anxiety is pretty bad.

I think it is normal anxiety most would have in your shoes........ relationships are scary because we have to put trust in another with our feelings and emotions ..........in doing so sometimes we get hurt.

i can see how the baby mama drama can be an issue......... it usually always is........ They may not even want him but not sure they want anyone else to have him either. maybe they thought having the child was a anchor they could snag him with...

Like you said you both have lives to lead ...... cannot be together all the time ...... some of your anxiety could stem from your past experience ........... even if you do not want to .......many times a person can not help but think of that in the back of your mind.....

i think we forget that is part of a relationship ....... and the part that makes us involved in working on it....the difference between a carousel and a roller coaster ........ the one just goes round and round no danger /no thrill ......nothing to lose ..............and the other has twists and turns that while at first perhaps scary after we do it we want to go again.

perhaps the anxiety is bad because you feel more deeply about this partner ....
