Big opportunity ahead! But with a lil' worry (Maybe TW due to cultural stuff? I don't know)
Oh hey! Soooo recently someone in my family told my sister he would be open to lend me his electric guitar so I can learn to play, and told her that once I learn to play if I want I can join a band he plays in.
I got excited when I heard about that, as I have always wanted to both play guitar and maybe be in a band someday, until I heard about the band's theme.
The band is themed after mesoamerican culture, specifically Nawat culture, an indigenous mesoamerican group of Nahuan peoples, closely related to the Mexica (Aztec) but separate, and my country's largest indigenous group.
Now this in itself is not a problem or me, however I have had the worry that backlash might occur against the band if I were to join because of my appearance.
I actually have a little bit of Nawat heritage myself, but I don't look like it; I have light skin, and I have been worried this might seem like a bad thing in the eyes of many regarding the theme.
I am not sure about the other members but the one who made the offer is mixed as well.
Now, I am likely just being too paranoid like usual lol, but I don't know; knowing how people adore blowing stuff out of proportion makes me have all of these worries and doubts, et cetera.
The members are anonymous if I recall correctly though, but I'll discuss with them later about anonymity and stuff.
Sorry if this topic isn't like too appropiate or something? I don't know lol

That sounds like a great opportunity for you! I understand the hesitancy and wanting to avoid any backlash, especially with this age in media where everyone gets canceled. I think your idea about talking it out with the group is a good idea and I really hope that you are able to give the opportunity a try. Music is not just for one set of people and I would hope that people would appreciate talent.
