Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any good book recommendations for dealing with bpd, anxiety, getting over a breakup and focusing on my self. I’m very insecure and have trouble of letting go of my ex. It was toxic and I believe it was a trauma bond. Now I’m starting from zero. Thank you in advance!

@Priscella

I am sorry you are going through what sounds like a difficult breakup. You might find Getting Past Your Breakup by Susan Elliott helpful as it offers great guidance on healing and moving forward. If you ever need to talk, feel free to reach out to me or any of the listeners here. Wishing you healing on your journey!

Hi Priscilla,

sorry you’re going through this. Breakups are really hard, for anyone, not just those of us who struggle with bpd and anxiety, so I feel for you.

CODA is a really helpful program and their basic text is a great book-Codependents Anonymous.

there are online meetings all the time, and I find that that can be very helpful when going through a breakup.

wishing you all the best in your journey.

@Priscella

I don't know any good books, but I can tell you some methods to relax and stop your brain in order to not think for a while. Personally, when I was going through something like this I would overthink a lot so meditation, stress cards helped, and also I found this youtube channel which I watch which I find good. Like thewizardliz and IT Girl Playbook really help you get in your IT girl ear and give you support mainly confidence, and I loved to read but just rom coms for better hope to help me realize what love should look like. :) Hope this helps.

This might not be exactly in the lane you're looking down, but The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (trilogy) not only might put some smiles on your face, but has some surprisingly deep things to say about life if you let it marinate in your brain a little.

@Priscella 'I Hope This Finds You Well' by Natalie Sue.

A depressed worker in a dreary corporate job has HR mess with her computer and suddenly she now has access to ALL emails within the company. Whether they're sent to her or not.

She can see what her co-workers are talking about, what lay-offs are coming within the company, who is getting disciplined: the works. So she keeps this quiet and uses it as a tour de force. What happens? You'll have to find out!

The book is mainly a comedy but deals with social anxiety, workplace stress, and toxic relationships. So take that as a TW if needed, but I would personally say it doesn't go into any deep descriptive details so you shouldn't be disheartened. It's absolutely worth the read and became one of my top 10 books instantly. I couldn't put it down.
