Daycare Lady Doesn't Want Son Around (rant)
Hey, it's Imp.
Just been dealing with issues as son's current daycare with the way she talks to me and how she treats son & complains about son to me, but she NEVER says ANYTHING to son's dad/my ex.
No complaints ever, even when he's the one showing up late, she keeps quiet or just texts me asking "Who's picking up [son's name]" even though I told her ex already was. She only complains to me. Granted, her native language & mine are the same and son's dad is always making a "mad dog" face or seems unapproachable, but I feel she does things on purpose. AND she sometimes still talks to me in English instead, even tho we share a mutual language. . . It's idk dumb.
I was late only ever twice for pick-up since the couple months using her daycare services. I told her with my job, it is usually a 9/5 based on job assignments. Son's dad is almost always close to being late, her daycare is closed after 5:30, and he'll come around 5:35, or 5:40 and she complains to me lol. Ok? Tell son's dad!
She complains that she can't handle a "special needs" kid and doesn't want him around during inspection because will make her daycare look bad that the "special needs" kid isn't receiving help.(my son was in speech therapy, but got kicked out because ex would be late or no show to appointments he PROMISED to take son to).
Son's non-verbal, has gone to speech therapy, and has trauma. He's not "special needs", he would need a diagnosis for that. Also, when she does showings for the daycare, she requests I pick up son early, while the other parents kids stay. It's messed up. My son has the habit of playing alone, taking off his shoes, and sometimes he takes of his clothes if he goes potty and she gets mad and keeps complaining to me about it... I always correct son if he does stuff like that so he doesn't get into the habit (also, in my culture, we ALWAYS fake off shoes in the house so??? Why is there problem??)
I've complied to her requests as much a possible, I've paid any and ALL late fees but yesterday she went off on me for dropping him off early when I went to pick up son. I normally take the bus(my car is down), but got a ride that day. If ride would've dropped me off at the house, I would've scrambled to take bus and would be late to (new) work. She requested I pick him up early that day, I tried but had to go home and pick up my glasses as my eyes dried out with the contacts and I'm blind without it. If I have my son, I need to be aware. I apologized for the tardiness, and also because traffic is bad, and she still got angry.
She told me "All next week, I'm closing the daycare down for the move" which is a lie, because she gave a paper stating that only 3, days, she's only doing that to me to punish me. She also mentioned months prior, that I should find a closer daycare when she moves or find a different one(I was looking too after her rude comment). She just doesn't want to "deal with" a special needs kid and apparently I'm late?... In the morning, I might come at 8:30 or 9, instead of 8, but most daycares/preschools have a set time (from 7am-6pm for example) that kids can be dropped off, no questions, as long as it's within the range or a full-day. I guess her daycare is more of a babysitting service... As long as it's considered a "full day" by the people covering the service. And anyways, she never wants to deal with son, so the shorter the time, the better for her(as long as it's full hours)The longer, she hates it.
I honestly DON'T care anymore and plan on changing daycares next week and won't say a word to her. Only to DES, because she's been rude to me. And I'm going to report her too.
I've been going through hard times. I'm on the verge of homelessness, my car is down, was unemployed for close to a month after son was in a car accident because prior job blew up on me for not "following schedule" when I had to take time off for son (now I'm working at different job), and put a restraining order on ex. I've tried getting son back into speech therapy, and the daycare lady thinks I'm not trying, even when I show proof and gave up. There's a LONG wait-list and it's also hard being broke/no reliable transportation for the moment.
I never do *** to spite her, I'm TRYING.
I try HARD. I ALWAYS apologize and try my best.
I'm not an *** for no reason.
Sometimes I miss the bus, or the bus I need is caught in traffic so I miss it when it's already at stop and I'm chasing after it when I get off the prior bus. I cannot jaywalk if I have son, I won't risk it.
Anyhow, thanks for listening to me rant lol.
I'm getting a new daycare here soon.
Wish me luck!
@ImpudentIncognito Thank you for shating what is on your mind. It sounds like you are totally fed up with the daycare lady! It is kind of odd that she only complains to you, and seems to take things out on you, but not the child's father.
I do hope you can find another daycare that is more friendly, and more attentive to your son's needs. It must be really difficult being a single parent to a non-verbal child. I'm sure it's difficult to provide for him and get him all the services he needs. I hope you are able to re-enroll him in speech services soon.
Please reach out to me or another listener if you want to talk more about this, or anything else that you are going through.
Take care!
Hello Purple, I ended up finding a preschool for the little one, he's registered and ready to go but...
I'm having a new problem now haha. There's an upfront cost for it, and I'm still waiting on my paycheck for new job...I get paid weekly. They STILL haven't approved my hours and I ask EVERYDAY now...
I've been having to work from home...and it's not very...what's the word... convenient? It's hard to work with son around, and I don't have all my equipment and I need to move out of the house ASAP. Me not having paycheck is kinda difficult.
I live with 2nd older brother but... originally, he was going to move to our homestate, so he told the landlord he's leaving soon(ends up being TODAY actually, he barely told me this yesterday)...and... I have limited time. Very, very, limited time to get out. And the kicker is? My second oldest brother ISN'T moving back to our homestate, he's moving in our city...
This paycheck is important to have ASAP.
I'm very frustrated...
@ImpudentIncognito - oh no, that does sound incredibly frustrating! It was really inconsiderate of your brother not to tell you that he was moving. And the fact that you arent getting a paycheck and having to work from home with your son underfoot, Im sure that just adds to your stress.
I really do hope that they pay you soon, it's only fair!
Good news is that it actually got approved today. :)
Just have to wait till tomorrow or next day for it to hit the bank.
I'll be able to Airbnb it for a while.
I... technically have someone I can stay with and he offered me to stay until I find my own spot but...
We barely started a romantic relationship and both have kids.
I've known him platonically for a year though. We've talked on-and-off. We worked together, but he didn't talk to me at work much since he was sorta my boss/superior.
Apparently, he's always liked me but kept it to himself and avoided me a bit to not make it weird and kept it professional. I thought he hated me for that reason lol. When we both left the job, I'd see him here and there in person. I kept running into him haha.
Yeah... My brother told me he was going to move out, but I thought it would be later in May (he said mid to late may, but never gave specifics before), not so soon... It's a but frustrating.
I think i'll be OK now with the paycheck in tow.
@ImpudentIncognito I'm so glad you got paid and that things are looking up!
Veb though youve known him for awhile, that does seem like a big jump, to go from just-started-dating to moving in together. I hope you figure it out. I'm sure you'll do whatever is best for you, him, and the kids involved.
