Dealing defensive people
Hi,
I am struggling with a relationship crisis for more than 2.5 years. My partner always defends. I feel frustrated and exhausted during those moments. And this happens more than 10 times a day and we don't spend more than anything hour a day together. I carefully choose words not to blame or offend my partner. But the problem persists. How can I deal with this situation. Kindly help.

You need to be with someone who you can be open and honest with.
Communication is key.
Hearing each other out.
Being respectful.
You shouldn't have to walk on eggshells.
Your feelings matter too 💕💜

Hi. I think that a relationship is about two people who are emotionally vulnerable to each other, open to growth or change, and open to communicate and talk about emotions, either those which are good, or those which are difficult.
If one of those people gets defensive (with no particular reason?) and stays in their emotional shelter, becomes isolated and is not willing to build a relationship, that is a problem...
I am afraid we cannot tell you much more, unless you would like to describe some specific situations. Some people become closed and isolated due to their inability to face their own life story, though sometimes they also may (too easily?) put the blame on your behaviour.

Hello Summer,
I just want to say first off, thank you for being open about this, and I know it's not an easy situation to be in especially in a relationship for almost three years as well. Therefore, of course I dont know what really goes on behind the scene with your relationship but I think it is very very important to feel comfortable with the other person, and having open communication. And speaking from my personal experience, it is not healthy to hold in what you feel, or when you want to talk about your feelings or certain things with your partner with them possibly getting angry, defensive, or sad. Moreover, you deserve to express those thoughts, emotions or feelings as much as they do to you, and thats their problem if they cannot accept what you're expressing to them. A relationship is a commitment, communication, and openess with two people. I hope that someday they can understand that you matter too, and you don't deserve that. It's okay to be honest with too <3
