Diary entry #5 (The Art of waiting)
It’s strange how someone can leave no visible mark on your life, yet still exist in every little thing around you. Every song sounds like a memory. Every quiet moment turns into a conversation with them inside my head. I keep checking my phone knowing there’s nothing new, but some part of me still hopes.
I miss them in the smallest ways possible. The way they talked. The comfort of their presence. Even the random, meaningless moments that didn’t seem important at the time now replay in my mind like they were everything.
I never even spent that much time with them, not in the way people usually define closeness. There weren’t long conversations every day or constant presence. But somehow, it still feels significant.
Maybe it stands out more because they were the only real friend I had in that phase of life. When there aren’t many people around, even small connections start to carry more weight than they should. You don’t realize it at first, but absence teaches you how much space someone occupied.
And now that they’re not around, that space doesn’t feel empty in a simple way. It feels paused. Like something unfinished just stayed behind and never got closure.
That’s what makes the waiting harder too. Not just waiting for them to come back, but waiting for the feeling to stop echoing the same way it does every night.
People say time heals are the biggest liars, cause they never talk about the hours after midnight when memories hit the hardest. When you realize you’re not just missing a person you’re missing the version of yourself that existed with them.
And the worst part?
They probably have no idea how deeply they still live inside my thoughts.
Maybe that’s what peak missing someone feels like carrying an entire universe of emotions for a person who isn’t even here to see it.
And what I learned from it is that.
When life is empty, even the smallest moments carry the most weight.
So here I'm still waiting them to return soon

This was honestly really beautifully written❤️ The part about missing the version of yourself that existed with them hit hard, because a lot of people don’t realize grief over someone can also feel like grief over who you were during that time.
Waiting for closure that never fully comes is exhausting, and I think you captured that feeling really well here.
