Emotional dysregulation
I have cptsd and my symptoms were kind of manageable so far. Lately, so many things have been happening so fast and I feel overwhelmed. One bad thing happens after another. I am exhausted at this point. It truly feels like a curse. Every time I try to get better something comes in to crush me.
I already live in fear of being happy and feeling OK because whenever I am slightly doing better horrible things happen. Maybe that's just random and I happen to be very unlucky but it's still painful.
I wish life was nicer to me and I didn't have to fight to survive every day.
I am so emotionally dysregulated right now because of this string of bad events happening back to back.
Does anyone have any tips or techniques on how to regulate the nervous system?
I tried breathing exercises and journaling and it does not help.
Walks are the only thing that helps me so far.
Yesterday I went on a 4 hour walk because I was so upset. It did help but whenever I got back from my walk I got another bad news.
I hope this string of bad luck will end. I am getting tired.
I tried my best not to be bitter because I have been there and it's not a mindset that I want to have.
But lately it's been tough for me to keep optimistic.
It seems like no matter what I do, life will crush all my efforts.
I am starting to develop learned helplessness and I hate it.
I want to get out of this mindset ASAP.
So any tips and advice are welcome.
Cptsd is rough, I deal with that too. And the string of back luck is relatable also. I dunno about you, but I literally have no sense of security. That softens things a bit, and I tend to live in the moment, but that doesn't always help when things just keep getting worse outside of your control.
My advice is to keep moving on anything that makes you feel relaxed or feel like you're making progress. Maybe you should explore or work out with your walks. The more you feel in control of yourself, and the more capable you feel, things have a tendency to work out a little better. Or at least feel like they do l.
Advice is rough though, I can't know what's best for you. I think it may be a mishmash of things you are here. You're not totally alone with what you have to live with, even if no one around you could understand it.
@Torean
Me too I have this sense of not feeling secure. I am always vigilant and struggle to relax.
It's true that what works for someone may not work for another person but I want to try everything and see what works for me.
I do have some activities that bring me comfort and I will try to do them more often. Maybe that will help me to feel more calmly.
@Vector5 I understand what you're experiencing, I know how difficult it is. Keep walking, keep up with the breathing exercises, maybe try cold showers, running in place videos on YouTube help me--don't stop self-care and show yourself compassion. Just hang on and float through everything, accept and don't fight the current...control what you can, let go of what you can't. And keep reaching out ((((hugs))))
