Feeling constant heaviness + background anxiety — anyone else relate?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been going through a tough phase. My sleep has been messy — I get some hours, but then wake up with weird dreams and feel heavy when I open my eyes. Throughout the day, I feel this constant sighing, like a weight in my chest, and a background anxiety that never fully goes away.
I’ve been trying to manage with small things (walks, showers, fragrances, breathing technique), but the heaviness is still there most of the time.
I just wanted to share this, and also ask — has anyone else gone through this “always-on heaviness” phase? What helped you feel a little lighter?
Thanks for reading 💙
@FreshStartV I am going through this phase currently. I don’t have much to offer as “Real solutions” but for me, I kind of just am trying to make myself take it one second at a time. I hate “one second at a time” feedback myself to be honest, and it just makes me frustrated, but unfortunately for me, that’s kind of how this works. I like military stuff personally, so I try to think of my battle against my anxiety as one of the war stories I’d heard. It feels impossible, and no one knows how long it will take, but in the end, if you keep fighting, at some point your enemy will give in. And you will have victory. Keep pushing. I’m not out of it, and maybe neither are you, but you know what. Let’s push through together.

Thank you for opening up about this—it takes courage to put those feelings into words. I can really hear how heavy and draining it feels to carry that constant background anxiety. You’re definitely not alone; many people here have gone through something similar. It might help to share more with a listener on 7 Cups, since sometimes just talking it out with someone who’s there to listen can make the weight feel a little lighter.
