He Got Away, I Never Will.

Sometimes I want to scream at myself until my throat goes raw. I hate that I still carry these things the panic, the shame, the nights I replay every little choice until they bleed into the next day. I can't seem to get them under control, and part of me thinks I have no right to complain because it was my fault. I could have left. I could have told someone. I could have stopped it. I didn’t. I keep telling myself I don't deserve this pain, and then the guilt swallows me whole.
People tell me it wasn't my fault I was a child but those words slip right past the ache. I should have known better, I should have fought harder, I should have done something. I tell myself I shouldn't be haunted by something that happened years ago, but the memory sits in my chest like a weight I can’t lift. I wish I could turn my feelings off. I wish they would stop coming at me in the quiet hours when the rest of the world sleeps. My family seemed to move on. They wrapped life up and kept going like nothing happened. That makes me feel small and ridiculous for still being broken. Why can't I let it go the way they did? Why am I the one still bleeding from wounds no one else seems to see? And him he hurt me, and the world moved on and rewarded him. A house, stability, the kind of life I’m told I should have been allowed to have too. Seeing him untouched feels like being punished all over again. Every day is a reminder: he got away with it, and I am left holding the pieces. I know I need to let it go. I want to. But it’s so painfully, impossibly hard.

He is the guilty one, not you. Please don’t take that weight off him and put it on yourself. <3

You are loved <3

@Lindsey103 sorry to hear what you are going through. No one would truly know what it’s like what you are going through but you. I can only relate to your situation but only you know what it’s like to be in your shoes.

I just want you to know you deserve to find peace and happiness one day. I am too going through a similar situation. Struggled with seeking validation and love from others all my life. My ex for over a decade only deepened those wounds. I used addiction to cope with that pain. It didn’t fix anything and left me feeling empty. We had a newborn daughter, my ex kicked me out of my own home, lost my job, bankrupt, isolated, and can’t see my newborn daughter. Meanwhile she’s trying everything she can to keep the house, lying about everything now, turned my friends and most of my family against me, and placed a protection order against me. It’s deeply painful and heartbreaking.

I only say this because I want you to know you’re not alone in your pain. Everyone goes through horrible times or traumatic experiences at one point or another. I just want you to know I hear you. It’s not gonna fix magically overnight, noir is it going to fix its self. It’s gonna take time, and effort to change the mindset and rewire your brain to find joy and happiness inward again. Hopefully with time you’ll succeed in finding your own happiness and peace. Because everyone is worth changing for the better. Don’t let their feelings dictate your life.

Here’s Something to think about that I’ve been thinking of lately that has given me prospective and has helped me. What’s the point of life if we’re just chasing fairy tales? If all we do is run from reality, drown in distractions, and hide behind the ‘golden rule’ isn’t that just a waste? Everywhere you look, people are ignoring the suffering in the world, as if it doesn’t exist.

And yeah, maybe you’re not religious. I get it. But isn’t it time we stop pretending that comfort and ignorance are enough? What if real purpose comes from facing our pain head-on, and using it to help someone else find their way?

Helping others, being there for them in their darkest moments, that’s what gives life meaning. That’s what makes us real. Not just going through the motions. Not just sitting in the bubble of easy answers.

If we really want to live with purpose, we’ve got to stop avoiding the hard stuff, and start using it to create something that matters.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm going through something similar. Life does seem unfair, isn't it? He has 100 distractions, getting promoted, going to holidays and I'm here sitting with my pain, repeating everything in my head over and over again. I don't have any suggestions for you, and it'll always feel unfair, but from my previous experiences, I can tell you that eventually you'll forget. Keep sharing your feelings if you're comfortable, let's help each other move on 🙂
