I'm new here... I've been struggling with depression these past years and these couple months have been really hard. Today I had this trigger and I can't seem to stop crying about it.

I feel silly, but they cut down the tree next to my window. For years I found peace in watching it grow and change through seasons. It gave me such a comforting feeling seeing its yellow leaves. And it gave me hope when I saw the little green leaves announcing winter ended. I hate winter, I love autumn and spring.

I feel stupid crying about it but it hurts to see the tree all chopped off and lifeless. I went to vent to my mother but she said it was not a big deal.

I just wanted to let it out here since I don't have anyone else to talk about it.

I can't even look at how it looimg-jvw4sm_1690991485.jpgks now.

Hey @roms1509 ! Welcome to Cups! How are you liking being here so far?

I'm sorry that you have been struggling with depression. Thats hard!

It doesn't seem silly at all that you are upset that they cut the tree down. When we get used to something being in our daily lives, it can be hard to adjust - I get that!

Have you thought of maybe getting another indoor plant? Do you think that would be helpful for you? One that blossoms and you can see it blooming?

The forums can be a little hard to navigate at first. But I do think that you may find some comfort in checking out the Depression Support Sub Community

I look forward to seeing you around Cups

@roms1509 It doesn’t sound silly at all! We all get attached to things that bring us comfort, and it’s okay to be upset when those things leave. I wonder if maybe you saw a little bit of yourself in the tree, maybe seeing it become orange and watching the leaves fall off only to return in the spring reminded you that there is some hope - when things appear desolate and dreary spring will always come around again and things will be okay.

I would suggest maybe getting an indoor plant, that also changes with the seasons. Or maybe going for a walk nearby to see the trees around you. Maybe even planting a new tree in your garden?

Sorry I couldn’t be more help with this, friend
