I feel lost

2026 was the worst year of my life.

I (24F) came home from Erasmus in december 2025 and I started feeling like I wasn't the same person anymore. I already had problems with my 6.5 years relationship and I broke up with him in april. I felt a lot of guilt because I broke his heart and I didn't maintain promises about our future.

At the same time I was carrying out my thesis and I had many issues with it and with my supervisor.

I found out I have some health issues too (nothing serious, but still noticeable).

After 4 months from my break up I texted a guy I had a huge crush for (nothing had happened with him) during my Erasmus and I finally told him, but I was passively ghosted. I thought it wouldn't have affected me, but actually I spent weeks thinking about it. And I still think about it sometimes.

Now that I'm almost graduating, I don't know what to do with my future and I struggle finding things I really like.

Some days I feel positive about the future and this new chapter in front of me, but some others, like today, I just feel sad, overwhelmed, with no motivation and the only thing I can do is crying.

Actually, I want to say that it’s really great that you aren’t giving up. You’ve certainly been through a lot of difficult things—especially your relationship and the way that other guy started ignoring you. But I think you could also look at this as a test. You weren’t able to sustain the relationship, which means you might not be ready for one right now—or perhaps he just wasn’t the right person. The guy you liked turned out to be a bad choice; that just means you’ll be better at selecting partners in the future. Your studies have given you experience, and your relationships have, too—so it’s not as if nothing has happened. We all feel sad from time to time, for all sorts of reasons, and sometimes that can take up days at a time. But if you know you have an opportunity, take it. Think about what you do and don’t want for your future—and become the version of yourself that you want to be.
