If you could send messages to your past self, what’s one thing you think they wouldn’t believe?
Reflecting on our past can help us gain perspective and build resilience. Imagining what we'd say to our younger selves can show patterns in our choices, regrets, and growth. What's something you'd tell your past self which you think they wouldn't believe?
@listeningyouout29
They wouldn't believe that I am where I am today.
That the pain stops
The hurt stops.
You can look in the mirror and be happy.
That time does heal.
That today, you are strong, capable and most importantly, happy 🤗💚
That the people you thought mattered, didn't!
You did it without them.

@trueconfidant123
It took a long time 🩷
Nice work.
@lostandfoundat38
Thank you 💕
Youre still alive at 38. Just beginning to see that you needed me at 9. Brainspotting and emdr brought your needs to life. I'm here and I see you now.
@listeningyouout29
That's a really difficult one, it would depend on which past self I'm talking too...
Teenage me, full of life, hyperactive and dreams of a pro cycling career...
In my twenties, cripple by inflammatory flares from inflammatory arthritis, often unable to stand and walk and fearful of ending up like my grandfather with a fused spine and rib cage on permanently forced oxygen...
In my thirties, inflammatory arthritis becoming a memory and inspired coaching other cyclists achieve their own targets and goals...
In my 50's, having survived a near fatal pulmonary embolism and hampered by a partially occluded deep vein that if it deteriorates further might lead to requiring my leg to he amputated...
At 59, ai'm lonely, lost, bewildered, dreading what comes next, what can I say to my past selves other than I'm a survivor, life is precious but certainly not predictable.
@RunningMachine
That's so powerful. Different versions of you have carried completely different worlds within you, hope, fear, loss, strength all at once. There's a consistent thread throughout all of these phases: you kept going :) even when your body, circumstances and your future felt uncertain, you adapted, survived, and even found ways to give back to others. That says a lot about your resilience. Thank you for sharing :)
There’s life outside it.
@ConstellationSystem
Its really strong of you to not deny the struggle, you're just not letting it be the whole story :)
@listeningyouout29 that is true sentence !
That you are worthy and can challenge peoples beliefs that feel eerie to you :> even parents. And you get another chance to getting to know you and you dont have to grow so fast
Mom and Dad, might be monsters, but ive got you now and even thru the currents ill still try to catch you so you dont loose touch with me again. I know its weird, feels like a angsty edgy cartoon , feels plastic but well get thru it and find the right people no matter how long it takes for us to realize theyre staying. And are safe 💖
Youve survived storms its time to find a sheltered place that helps and protects you 💖
(P.S. avoid Mom and Dad like they mosquitos cus they are)
@berrycheesecake90
I like how you reminded yourself that you’re worthy and allowed to question things even from parents. That’s not easy to accept. And that line about finding people who are safe and stay… that really stands out. You deserve that kind of space.
Thank you 💖
