I need advice, please.
One of my old doctors requested I see a therapist and/or a psychologist and talk to someone about my mental health. I didn't go because I didn't feel comfortable talking g with someone about my feelings and stuff. But recently I've been thinking if it might be a good idea to see a therapist just to bring up some things that have sat heavy in my heart for so long.
Can someone suggest any ideas that may help me make a decision as to whether or not I should see a therapist.
🙏 please 🙏
@Green0verthinker7. Hi 💛, welcome to 7 Cups 🌸. My name is Alfred, and I’m one of the listeners here. Thank you for opening up and sharing something so personal. It sounds like you’ve been carrying a lot on your heart, and just thinking about talking to someone shows a lot of courage. 🌿
It’s completely normal to feel unsure or uncomfortable about opening up at first. What do you think might make it feel a little easier or safer if you did decide to share with someone?
I'm sure you will end up making the decision that is right for you. Take into account the cost of therapy and whether or not you have a good support system around you.
Do you feel comfortable talking to your friends or family or others about what is weighing on your mind?
In either case, it might take time to open up and the right person will be patient and/or find the right tools to gently coax you :)

It’s really brave of you to share this here. Opening up can feel uncomfortable at first, and you don’t have to dive into everything all at once. If you’d like a gentle place to start, you could try talking with a listener here on 7 Cups—they’re here to support you and give you space to share what’s been weighing on you. Sometimes just taking that first step makes the bigger decisions, like therapy, feel a little clearer.
