So, i'm new here, but i seriously need some advice. Me and my family will be going swimming tomorrow noon, and that should be fun, right? Wrong. I relapsed 5 days ago (SH), but luckily, my wounds (2 cuts, upper arm right under the inner part of my elbow) were not that bad. still, theyre pretty purple right now, and i need a way to hide them from my family when we go to swim. Any ideas here?

@theaverageidiot

Hello, and welcome to 7 Cups 😊

I am terribly sorry to hear about your relapse.

Technically, I guess the only option to cover your elbows would be to wear a diver's suit or hide your hands under some kind of a band (like those used by runners to protect their phones from rain or sweat), or maybe some fancy colourful scarf tied around?

Still, there seem to be other options:

How would you feel about telling the truth to your loved ones?

Or, you can kindly refuse to go into the water because of headache or gastric problems, or anything else (while wearing long sleeves). But is this really the best option?

Also, could I ask you to consider changing your screen name (that could be possible if you are a new member...)—"theaverageidiot" sounds a bit self-harmful... What about showing some more love or understanding to yourself? Could "theaverageperson" or "theaveragegirl" make it right?

I still remember my close relative who was embarrassed to be on the beach when he had scars from the cuts on his stomach muscles.

And I still remember one of our childhood friends, bigger and louder than most of us, who was afraid to take his t-shirt off while bathing, in order to not show us the scars after his mother beated him with an electric cable.

You're not an "idiot", you are a person who suffers...

Hi,

Sorry you've been going through this. Have you tried a waterproof concealer or foundation?
