Let’s talk❤️
What’s the Most Hurtful Thing Someone Has Ever Said to You? Let’s Laugh (and Cry) Together!
Alright, folks, let’s stir things up a bit. I’m calling out those soul-crushing, jaw-dropping, “did they really just say that?” moments—the ones we still think about in the shower 10 years later, plotting our ultimate comeback. What’s the most hurtful thing someone’s ever said to you?
I’ll start, because fair is fair. One time, someone looked me dead in the eyes and said: “You have the personality of an overcooked potato.” AN. OVERCOOKED. POTATO. Like, excuse me?! At least compare me to mashed potatoes or something versatile and comforting. But no, they went straight for the dry, flavorless insult that haunts me to this day.
Or there’s my friend, who once got told by a teacher: “You’re the reason I drink.” The TEACHER. Imagine doing your homework and still being blamed for someone’s Merlot habit.
But here’s the thing—those words hurt then, but now? Now we laugh about them (and also secretly hope karma got those people back). That’s the beauty of sharing these moments: they lose their power over you when you can throw a little humor at them and share them with people who get it.
So, hit me with your stories. Let’s turn this into a group roast of the most ridiculous, hurtful things we’ve ever heard. You can go deep if you want, but even the small, dumb insults count—like that time someone said your new haircut made you look like a “vegetable emoji” (that one hurt a little, not gonna lie).
And hey, if your story is truly wild, I’ll pin it as the Hall of Fame Hurtful Comment. So, let’s hear it: What’s the thing someone said to you that still makes you go, “WOW, okay, thanks for that”? Bonus points if it’s funny, weird, or just downright petty. Let’s keep it light, and maybe—just maybe—we’ll all feel a little better after laughing at the absurdity of it all.
Alright, your turn—don’t leave me hanging! Btw i will post this in another forum just to reach more people.
@brightaday So, are we doing the top ten most hurtful things? In no particular order, mind. Most of these don’t bother me anymore.
I had a bit of a meet cute with death, total accident, and my mother, in a fit of anger, once said, "You should've died that day."
My dad, whenever it's hard to win an argument, always says, "I should’ve never raised you. You were always difficult. You disappoint me." It used to sting, but not so much now. I was basically the golden child and, to be honest, he didn’t directly do the "raising" part much.
My cousin, who I thought of like a brother, once told me, "You’re heartless. I hope the grandmother curses you and haunts you." That was because I didn’t go to his grandmother’s funeral. She’s the reason I had that close call with death, and she ruined my whole childhood. I replied, "I hope she haunts me too, so I can finally stick a stake through her heart and not worry about m*rder. charges". Cant blame him though that lady was the epitome of "sophistication" and "kindness" to all other people.
A guy, whose family was pretty close to ours, once "threatened" me. Didn’t bother me at the time, but then said, "What if I touched your sister?" And I might’ve punched him and chucked a phone at his dad’s face. It was the first time I lost it in front of people, and it turned out be an all out family war.
People always say I’m "ambitious", "intelligent", and "diplomatic" in a way that sounds shady. Like I’m the evil twin of Lelouch Lamperouge which used to hurt me. But now I take it as a compliment.
Ironically, the thing that hurt the most and still does- wasn’t something someone said. A few years ago, my mother had cancer, but she didn’t tell me. She went through surgery and all, and now she’s fine. But she never thought, "I might die, I should at least tell my daughter." Nope, I had to find out through other people after a year. I never got over this. I know logically, she isn't worth it but maybe it is the "X" chromosome in me from her that laments for the source material or something like that.
7. My mother's nephews call her "Mummy" even though she is their aunt (also, their godmother) while my siblings and I call her "doctor" because : a) she is one. b) we were encouraged to call her that. Also, we were not allowed to "hold her hands" while walking with her. We were not supposed to go to airports to send her off. We were not allowed to call her during her duty hours even if the house burnt down.
8. My brother once told me he hates me. It was not a typical sibling "I hate you". Later, it turned out that it was all a misunderstanding and he apologised. But I was shocked that even him assumed the worst of me.
(What they said about me being ambitious is true, I hope I get the Hall of Fame of Hurtful comments😭, if I dont I will pull out my teenage journals)
@brightaday
It's two things really.
"I never wanted to have kids" - my Dad
"I'm sorry, you're so easy to forget about" - my Mom
Any thoughts?
@WriteToHeal42 That is messed up, especially the "you're so easy to forget" bit – no kid should ever hear that. I hope you get over this. They didn’t deserve you. Just remember that no life was an accident and every life leaves behind an indelible mark in this world- be it through other humans or actions. *virtual hugs *
