I think getting over guilt depends on the hurt......or the intention....  did action hurt their feelings? or hurt them in other ways?     

I also think guilt is conditional  .... did you set out / mean to / or knew it was possible  to hurt someone or was it a side effect?    Many times others may be hurt as an unintended situation that you could not see before.
