Never been sure how to open up to people

I used to think I was an open person but in reflection recently I feel like I've been lying to myself.

I moved out of my home town around 10 years ago and I felt that 99% of my friendships disappeared with it. I even moved back after 2 years but the friendships weren't there.

Not sure if they were they were ever more than superficial connections.

I thought deeper into it recently while dealing with some relationship and personal issues. I don't remember ever opening up fully or knowing how to.

Any advice for people similar to me?

I feel like this is a big step towards it but writing this little bit has been a struggle. I think I may respond to questions better as they aren't really as broad so I find that more definite to answer (been researching autism as me and the wife think I have it)

@indigoHemlock222

It may not be you. Friends are temporary for even the most open people anymore. people do not IMO invest in long term friends we have school friends /  work friends and perhaps friends while we are doing a hobby etc but when we graduate/ change jobs or move it seems out of site out of mind.

I know that probably is not helpful but if you find a person /friend to open up to it may be a one person thing i have the same best friend for decades no we do not talk every day or week but we are there when we need it and frankly i remember back to when we became friends i was not that open and if someone had told me guess who would be there year and years later she would not have been in my first 3 guesses.    your person ... your support may come from someone you never expected.

@indigoHemlock222 I've always been quiet. Thinking of interesting conversations can help, For example what are your goals in life? or have you ever traveled? Sometimes you have to find the right group of people to hang out with. For me it took me to find confidence in myself.

-Hope this helps.
