Not Looking Forward to My Haircut…
I haven’t cut my hair since the first time the salons reopened during COVID (2021?). I probably look as fluffy as those wild ponies you see in the pictures… lol
I can’t wait to get it cut. I’m going to cut off somewhere between 8-12 inches (probably closer to 12 inches- it will end up being a little past shoulder length), and I’ll offer the hair to my pastor’s wife, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
My hair is so long that when I lean over, it falls into stuff, which is not fun. Lol
I can’t wait to get it cut! <3
But… I also cringe at the thought.
Every time I cut my hair this drastically (I’ve only done it twice so far), I get cutting comments.
“You shouldn’t have cut your hair!”
It hurts every time.
Because it’s my body. I can make choices about it. Cutting my hair affects no one… It actually benefits others!
And yet… it’s almost as if people take it as a personal offense.
I cringe to think of the comments I’ll get… The ones that aren’t “Wow, your hair is so pretty!” It’s… “Wow, whatever made you come up with THAT dumb choice?”
I know it shouldn’t affect me. I know it’s my body and I can do whatever I want with it.
But the comments still hurt.

Everyone needs a change, and agreed, whether you like it is what matters. If they're actually saying it looks dumb or something, it's ok to let them know that it's not ok to say that.

@jesusredeemedme2425 i know that feeling of getting all the hair down 😁 As for those who don´t like it, tell them it´s just hair, and it will grow back 😊 I usually get a haircut once every like 1.5-2ish years, when my hair is around my waist and starts to get stuck under my elbows, and chop it down above my shoulders. When someone asks why, I just shrug, telling them I enjoy going through the process of growing my hair, as each length allows me to have fun with different hair styles, + i ain´t paying someone 50 euros to chop a few cm off the ends to have to do it again in a few months. That always shuts them up and makes me sound like a tactical master mind 😂
EXACTLY hehe. I plan to use “I’m giving my hair to a friend with cancer” as my one-liner to shut up the critics tomorrow lol

@jesusredeemedme2425 i mean. It´s okay to tell them why you did it. There is nothing wrong with that. Most of us simply don´t have the patience or energy to grow and maintain hair that is in good and donation worthy quality, so you should absolutely be proud of yourself. But if you don´t want to explain to people, a water spray may be helpful too when they don´t let it go 😁

Everyone LOVED it!!! I almost exclusively got compliments <3 I got a couple of teases, which were from close friends, so those don’t count lol. One other girl said, “You cut your hair????”, then kept playing with my new hair, but said nothing else. :)
It’s just below shoulder length, so it doesn’t feel weird when it touches my shoulders. It’s just long enough that I can put up a ponytail (though I haven’t tried). It’s super curly because my hair has a natural wave to it <3 My mom says it makes me look older, and my coworker said it makes me look younger lol
