Realizing I Might Have Mild Agoraphobia

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share something I’m processing right now. After a session with my therapist, we talked about how difficult it’s been for me to even go for a short walk by myself. I’ve always felt this intense fear and hesitation around going out alone, and now I’m learning that it might be mild agoraphobia.

It’s kind of surreal. I used to think maybe I was just being lazy or overly cautious, but hearing that there’s actually a name for it—and that it’s something real people struggle with—gave me both clarity and a bit of comfort. I’ve also dealt with codependency, so it makes sense how these things can mix together and make going out feel like a huge task.

I’m working on it slowly. My therapist gave me small goals like walking around my cul-de-sac. It’s safe and quiet, but still hard. But I’m proud that I will be trying these short walks tomorrow. Wish me luck.

You totally got this!

I can relate on some level, although I don’t think I have actual agoraphobia, but I do have anxiety.
