September Suicide Prevention Awareness

September is an important month for suicide prevention and awareness. It gives us an opportunity to talk openly about something that can be incredibly difficult, but that we shouldn’t be afraid to talk about.

Suicide can affect people from all different backgrounds, and sometimes the people who are struggling the most may not show it on the outside. That’s why checking in with someone, listening without judgement, and simply letting them know that they matter can make a real difference.

We don’t always need to have the perfect words or know how to fix someone’s problems. Sometimes, just being there and saying, “I’m here for you, and you don’t have to go through this alone,” is enough to start a conversation.

This month, let’s remind ourselves that asking someone if they’re okay isn’t going to make things worse. It can actually open the door for someone to speak about what they’re going through and get the support they need.

Most importantly, let’s continue looking out for one another—not just in September, but throughout the whole year. Everyone deserves to feel heard, supported and valued.

Thank you for listening, and please remember: a conversation can make a difference. 💙

This isn't something I normally like talking about.. But this has affected my life so much over the past two years. It started when I was 14 and it's been a daily part of my life ever since. It's gotten to the point where I've gotten dangerously close to actually doing it. It's still affects me today, and some days it feels incredibly impossible to go forward. I've never had support irl or had ppl in my life who really cared or ever even had someone to ask me how I am or how my day was. which I think contributes to it a lot. But there's a lot of factors that plays into it as well.

This isn't something that's made up or fake, it's a very real thing. And like you said it can affect anyone. Asking someone if their ok can go a long way. Sometimes its the little gestures that can really make a difference in someone life. Thank you for making this post and for spreading awareness about it. (:
