[TW] Guys, I screwed up big time and need some help Might be kind of long but I would really appreciate it if you read
As it says in the title, I screwed up with a friend. They told me that they were going to not live anymore when their mom and grandpa die, because they care about them the most and then he can go without making them sad. He told me exactly how he would do it. He gets lots of stress, too. I think he's also got schizophrenia and autism? That's what he told me sort of, anyway.
He was in a diffrent class but he told me about it, a teacher said something about when he goes to college and he was like if I live that long. Also, his girlfriend is in a bit of trouble because she threatened to stab someone and it's hard on him too.
So a while ago when he talked about it I told a school councilor about it and I think they talked to him, but I told them again and this time they talked to his parents too I think. He's really down about it, and I haven't seen him since then because it's the weekend, but he texted me.
He also has trust issues really bad and now he said he'll never trust anyone again after I betrayed his trust. I feel really torn about it. I think we're still going to be friends but he's not gong to talk about his problems anymore. I told him I f'd up and that I was sorry, that I don't know how or if I can help.
He said that lots of people have tried to help but no one could. I'm really, really worried about him. I had another friend going through a rough patch and when their family found out and they went to a hospital it was really stressful for them. I don't know what to do. I said I was so sorry, and that I cared so, so much about him. That if we could think of anything to help, I'd be here. Always. At least as long as I'm alive.
What else can I even do? I feel like it might start to be a miracle to even see him at school anymore if it gets worse. I feel like I can't do anyhthing but I would rather pay for his therapy than mine, I would take care of him, I would go to his house in the middle of the night if he needed me to (and if my parents let me). He said his mom is like forty so I think that she'll be alive for a long time unless there's a disease or something I don't know about, so hopefully he doesn't change his mind for the worse.
I hope he knows I'm on his side. I might ask my other friend how they're doing, and what I can do for him. They seem to be doing better now, but I don't see them at school? Idk. I'm really worried.
@LonleyCheese
a friend would care about not breaking trust more but a good friend would care more about saving their friend and doing something that actually makes a difference
you are a good friend 💕 you stood up for your friend to your friend , it takes courage
ofcourse you'll feel worried and be scared for his safety and I think you did the right thing by informing them...hopefully they can contact with crisis helplines or seek some professional support and come out of this crisis headspace soon ...
please don't feel bad about doing the right thing .. it would be hard but you just did what you felt was better in this time... you're still looking out for your friend and being there for him 💕 even if they don't feel it currently ... I hope someday they do ... and thank you for taking a needed step
Please also take care of yourself, I understand how terrible it feels to see a friend struggling so much... you deserve to be kind with yourself also
I saw him at school today thankfully, and his gf too. But he still seems a bit down, probably upset w/ me too. I get to talk to him next period tho
@LonkeyCheese I don’t think you betrayed his trust. You are a good friend. It took a lot of courage to do what you did. More people would be happy to have a friend like you. On the other side of your friend’s struggle, I think he will understand and be grateful as to what you did and why.
I saw him but he didn't talk to me, and I was a bit emberassed to talk to him. I heard him talking to our classmates and he later simply showed me his phone with a conversatin ending in his gf breaking up with him. I didn't know what to say so I just touched his knee with mine and he moved his knee away. I saw him pacing the halls on his phone later when we were in diffrent classes. I am still so worried about him because it looks like it's slowly going downhill. Hopefully it gets better.
