Something thats helped me lately is mentally handing the shame back to where it came from. I try to remind myself 'This doesn't belong to me. It was taught to me by people who couldn't love or protect me the way I needed'
I dont know if it'll help you too but I hope it brings even a little comfort💗💗
I just recognize it, I reaffirm myself, then I allow the feeling to pass and I dont control how long it takes.
How do you reaffirm for example?

The easy answer is to realise there’s nothing to feel shame about. That said, it’s actually the most difficult thing to accomplish. Even though late, one day I realised that this isn’t who I am and I can’t keep allowing it to define me. Obviously I didn’t break the cycle, but the thought alone helped me get a step further from it. At first, I tried to deal with it alone but it was obvious that I was lacking guidance so I gave therapy an effort.
It was easier after a while. Meditation helped me get aligned with myself and self-awareness kept me from not going a step back again.
I know not all of us deal with it the same, but if I could suggest to you one thing then it would be to find ways to feel safe in your skin. Like grounding, breathing, safe place visualisations… and always know that it’s okay… give yourself time and have the patience to make your step forward far from this feeling. It doesn’t magically disappear, it does need work, but it surely does get better.
(sorry about my long text, I typed based on myself and not as a Listener).
Thank you for sharing tgat it was helpful 🤍
@YougotthisNaush Try something that can calm you! Hope that helps, good luck!
Hello! I do struggle witht his too time to time , i usually do somatics. Honestly i just describe n notice my sensations n feelings, and try to express my emotions (if i feel like hiding i hide, or i hide my face with my hands then open up and repeat for a bit) then i just feel the emotion and then say “this is a protective response, its normal and natural “ and then i ground and self soothe, somatic hugs or just comfort yourself like a friend or whoever,
The toxic shame is not you, its just amplified shame, regular shame is natural and helpful and short lasting but toxic shame, well its toxic.
