What's the difference between Sensation Seekers and ADHD?? :(
Hi guys,, I reached out to some people here a while ago about an issue on needing stress/excitement in order to finish daily tasks and that I can't without it, more on it here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/GeneralSupport_28/General_2440/Cantdoanythinginmylifewithoutadrenaline_287652/ . So update: most ppl told me to get checked for ADHD and I was diagnosed with it and im now on stimulants.. The meds help but not with finishing things...(dopamine is a useless neurotransmitter tbh) Idk how to feel about this diagnosis tho. It feels somewhat wrong... I dont have trouble focusing when ppl talk to me, im not easily distracted or forgetful etc. I just believe im a high sensation seeker with SPD, because i prefer danger over the safe and mundane and i love seeking extreme sensations I was always a hyper kid so 'simple' tasks are daunting to me I always craved flying bc the world is too still. Idk if this is a misdiagnosis or im just in denial. I tried asking for help everywhere for the difference between the two but no one knows as there is not enough research on this. But what I found is that HSS's can handle stimulants more than the average neurotypical, and that HSS's need high amounts of stimulation or stress in order to focus or feel calm in mundane situations, which describes me. If u guys are interested in the research lemme know.
@excitableSun85 Hi there! Thank you for sharing your update with us. It's great to hear that you've been diagnosed with ADHD and are finding some relief with the medication. However, it's understandable that you may have some mixed feelings about the diagnosis and its accuracy. It's important to remember that everyone's experience with ADHD can be different, and it's possible to have ADHD as well as other conditions such as Sensory Processing Disorder. It's also possible that you may have been misdiagnosed. It's a good idea to continue exploring and discussing your concerns with your healthcare provider to find the best way forward for you. Best of luck on your journey 😊
