Imagine you find yourself dependent on a person that speaks to you in a nasty way, tries to control and gives an opinion on everything you do, and makes sure to shatter your confidence and self-esteem everyday.

Besides feeling depressed because your attempts to strengthen yourself and pursue your goals were ruined many times in the past due to this person's influence, you also find hard accepting being stuck in this situation.

You have tried many coping mechanisms and mental health techniques to help you remain hopeful and get stronger to improve your life despite the bad influence and heavyness this person - that is attached to you like a shadow - emanes on you everyday.

You are exhausted though. It's like this person sucks your life force. There is no family or friends to help you and, unfortunately, letting go of this person is not an option. What would you do to turn this situation around?

@blue9673

I think many have been in similar shoes ......... a person who knocks you down or eats at your self esteem do it because they want to feel better about themselves.

I have this........my spouse tries to make it seem like he is so much better / sharper and his ideas rule....so i have done my own things do not include him as much as i can and then put real pressure on him to MAKE a decision instead of always trying to undermine the one i make.

Once the failure is HIS .... when he is not second guessing ..... if a bad decision was made he has to live being the one in the wrong ......... his nitpicking and trying to shatter my confidence has almost disappeared.

turn the tables on your person .... second guess them ... sometimes a taste of their own poison fixes a lot.
