When will my life begin?
@Tinywhisper11 Rather than repeating answers posted already, I'll tell you this:
What it's like "out there" depends on where you are. There are many relatively safe places; there are many dangerous places. Despite the Internet & other tech, putting us in touch with each other, in some ways it's still a big world...with all kinds of people in it.
You are in a wheelchair, so there are many places you cannot go. There's no point in feeling down about that, even if it's understandable to feel that way. I'm fairly able-bodied & these days, there are places to go & things to do that I'll never experience in this life. I don't dwell on any of that because as I said, there's no point. As John Fogerty of CCR sang in Proud Mary, "An' I never lost a minute of sleepin' / Worryin' bout the way things might have been"
There are places where you could wheel your way down the sidewalk, inhaling the afternoon breezes & then pull in somewhere, get a cup of great coffee & watch the passersby. There are also places where if you were dropped off there, you wouldn't last 24 hours. (The hinterlands of Afghanistan surely has many such places...as does the Amazon jungle)
You're good where you are, Lo. You get three squares a day & a place to sleep without getting rained on. On top of that, you have people to talk to even though they're wrinkled, a bit slow & probably don't remember what you told them a couple days ago... But seriously, you got it made. Try to remember that.

Well, you can apply for assisted living. So, instead of being in a care home you can maybe get a small flat of your own which is specially adapted for you and has security and so on? I'm sure you will get government funding for it. Then you can start to venture out into a city perhaps, or nature or whatever you might prefer
If not then 7cups will start a *** for you!
I know you need a lot of care with your physical issues so I guess you would need a nurse on hand to help you but I feel like maybe you have outgrown the carehome now? It must be scary tho to think about further venturing into the outside world but sometimes you can be TOO safe, if you know what I mean?

I don't think it is at all a fantasy for you to go to the seaside. I think it is your absolute right to be able to do that!! You have a wheelchair.. there is no reason why you can't go to the seaside, right? I mean, not on your own but someone should take you. Don't they have a specially adapted minibus so you can go places?
@WhatNameidk live on my own🤔🤔 I'm not sure if that's possible🤔🤔 but yes the carehome has a minibus, and they do day trips for all the residents. But I've never been brave enough to go. Sometimes when depression more, new experiences, explore, do things other people do. But in reality that all terrifys me, I don't think I'm gonna be able to push myself enough to do theese things. But thankyou for trying ❤
@WhatNameidk Good point about being too safe. Not to derail the topic, but one of the reasons for the current dysfunctional mass culture in the US (& in Britain, to an extent) is because so many people have forgotten that, yes...it is possible to be too sheltered.

@Tinywhisper11 😹💯 The way he cannon balls in there. It's a touching film. I gots this lazy eye, so I can look in two directions too. My bullies were like who are you looking at chameleon, my name is cameron, and I'd be like "you and you" I'd also turn red with embarrassment. But I turned out alright, mostly. 😹 You're a good sport dear. It's hard to have our autonomy stripped away, to the extent that yours is and to come to accept our condition takes gorilla strength emotionally. Much to learn from you in that regard.

Well, when you do move to the outside world, you'll need to know how to interact with other people. SO, start at home! :) Start making eye contact with your carers, asking for things, making conversation, cracking jokes, discussing current events (use our news post for starter topics), etc. Start there and learn to be free <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 I do try, I really do. Eye contact, and asking for things yeah that's a issue. But I do talk to people here, and make jokes, I am the clown around here 😁❤

Be more specific with yourself when it comes to your goals, dreams and wants. Start small like today I want to go to the end of the block. Then hold yourself accountable to make that goal even if that's all you do that day. But always keep moving forward, keep pushing an object in motion stays in motion an object at rest stays at rest. My go to quote is " whether you think you can or you think you can not, you are correct." 😉

@jesusredeemedme2425 kiara, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to go out alone. The gates here have security out in place for my protection. I'm still under government protection, and I'm not sure of the rules with this. I don't think my anxiety and fears would let me anyway. But I'm happy, I got a good life here ❤❤

@jesusredeemedme2425 oh yes ❤ we have a huge enclosed garden here ❤ I can see ducks and herons and buzzards flying around in the mornings, and all the little birds too 😁 ❤ and I often spot squirrels playing😁😁😁
Maybe you could start a wildlife/plant journal, with drawings of each one <3

But I'm trying hard, everyday, and I do have a good life here ❤ just depression can really get to me sometimes. Thank you for your kind words ❤

@lovelyRose21 I don't know, sometimes depression takes over your thoughts, and can really make me feel like I should be doing more. When realistically I'm doing everything I can, and I have a good life now. It just sucks to think of the what ifs? How life might have been. But I'm ok, I'm happy here ❤
