Work struggles
I have been doubting if I made the right choice, so I need advice.
I am a nurse, I was hired in a clinic to work for one provider. After I started I was told I would be replacing two nurses. One for my original provider and an additional one. They don’t have corresponding schedules so I am constantly having to go back and forth and leave one hanging for the other. After 6 months of not having a nurse for him I requested a meeting to better delegate the tasks his nurse would do. I don’t feel like I can do the job of two people without any additional compensation forever. And I am very unhappy working with this provider (he is very disrespectful to women and nurses and spends a lot of time talking down to me and talking about not actually needing a nurse). I worry if I made the right choice asking for a change because my coworkers won’t be happy to have the extra work. It is just difficult for me to handle the stress of doing both of them and working with him makes my days miserable, I don’t want to change jobs so this seems like the best choice in some ways. But I also don’t want everyone to turn against me. What would you do in my situation?

You are speaking up for yourself...good for you!
You are trying to come up with a way to make this situation work better....Why do so many feel they need to appease everyone else...... except themselves... compromise is not do everything for others and maybe next time you will get the respect you deserve for stepping up to fill in for his lack of help or desire to fix his own issue ..... sound like he is self centered and just felt he could use your help and the the other provider did the hiring for him.... yes you should be better compensated since the plan was for one person not two and especially one who is difficult to work with.
No matter what you do someone will be let down .... you are your priority .....and the rest of nurses can speak up if more work falls to them for this provider can hire his own help...
we cannot solve issues or problems for everyone else.
