my parents don’t want to be date a non-jewish person (we’re jewish) and i fell in love with one. he became my best friend. i used to be so close to my parents and now we just have this tension between us and i don’t know what to do. i want him but if i choose him they said they would cut contact with me. i miss being close to them and i don’t wanna lose them but i also don’t wanna lose him.

@lin4y I understand that your love for your family is deep, but is it mutual? What they're doing to you is emotional blackmail and it's not something you do to a person you love. Why should you give up a person that truly loves you and gives you happiness, for the sake of someone whose love is conditional, and therefore not genuine?
The door will be open for them if they decide to hear you out and accept that what is best for you might be different than what they imagined. But until then, don't give in to blackmail. If you give in, you will only end up resenting them and not enjoying the relationship with them that you prioritized over your partner.
Stay with your partner, don't give up on someone who's loving you unconditionally, and let your family know that the door will be open for them if they ever decide to accept you as you are.

That’s a tough call. Adhere to your parents advice or following your feelings for this person. My advice is to follow your heart. If you truly love this person then that’s your path.
