Can you be mindful???? And motivated????

Do you think you could do more if you were more motivated? Do you get excited about new projects or resolutions, only to quit after a few days? Do you find it hard to focus on your goals? Do you constantly compare yourself to other people and end up feeling frustrated? Do you have problems with getting things done or sticking to things you know you should be doing? If so, no worries, I have been there myself. For years, I have struggled with lack of motivation. I could not create new habits. It wasnt until I learned how to combine mindfulness with motivation that I was able to turn my never ending to-do lists and anxiety attacks into easy and doable action plans that helped me trick my brain, take action (even when I was not motivated), move forward, be consistent, and get results.

So how can mindfulness help you get and stay more motivated?

Its simple- you need to embrace the here and now. Most people focus too much on the past and past experiences that prevent them from taking action (simple example- I tried and it didnt work!), or they focus way too much on the future and want to know all the steps to follow, and they think theyre not good enough. This is not good either, as you cant predict it all.

Motivation and a Compelling Vision

You need to have a vision, so you know where youre going, but at the same time, focus on today- what small steps are you going to take today? You dont need to wait till you know all the answers, because this is never going to happen. People learn new things in the process of doing new things.Your new mantra should be- I focus on the now and the current step, and when this is done, I will move on to the next one.Just one thing at the time. Congratulate yourself and move forward.Sometimes, it may take 2 days to properly finish off your daily to-do list. But one day will not make as big difference. Dont beat yourself up.Also- remember to create a margin for failure, as this will save you unnecessary frustration and emotional pain. Its OK to fail.

So choose progress instead of chasing perfection.
