Feeling down unmotivated since

I was so proud of myself for completion of my first year of college. I did well. I got good grades and even letters of recommendation from 2 different teachers. The day I came home to spread the good news a family member was having a fit because I threw away glass in the trash instead of putting it in the recycling bin. That snowballed into a week of her basically treating me like I did something horrible. Not speaking to me etc. She said me I made her life miserable and other hurtful things. I know I didn't do anything but it sort of deflated my sails and I have not been able to get my happiness back. I am stuck with her until fall when I go back to school. How do I get my spirits back up?

Congratulations on your first year college. The transition to college life often makes the first year the hardest. Great job!

As far as your family member's over reaction ... it isn't about you. It is about her inability to deal with her own emotions and inner turmoil effectively.
