Feeling overwhelmed by overthinking about career

Guys, i have been feeling overwhelmed every time i think about my career. My family is pressurizing me silently to study well and get a job with good pay so that i can handle myself and my family. I am unable to focus on my studies because i overthink a lot and continuously switch between choosing happiness for myself and happiness for my family. I end up giving in to temptation and watch movies and series and waste time rather than studying. But the thing is when i start studying my brain tells me that i should watch something good to make myself happy and i end up doing that. Studying for my career is very crucial at this point of my life and i am destroying myself. I want help. Every time i talk to someone about this they say, things will work out, do this, do that but it is so hard for me to follow one single thing. I feel like me existing in this world is a mistake. I am giving myself and my family so much stress. I wish I was not born. I don't want to live here anymore. I am happy in my dreams, wish I never wake up from sleep.

🥺

💕💜

I think it's about having balance.

Studying and having fun too.

Making the study more manageable, breaking it into smaller, chunks, getting it done then will bolster your confidence.

You can do this 💕💜

You may work on your career if its your passion

But your existence alone is enough - you don't have to do anything more to prove your worth

I also have problems with wasting time, and I don't claim to have solved them. But something that helped me a bit was to frame it as "I don't want to waste my time, because I love myself and want to respect my own time".

Maybe you can sit down and meditate, just close your eyes and listen to your breathing. You are not a mistake, the world is better with you in it. That you can experience it with your body and mind is something wondrous. If you listen to your breathing, I think you will want to choose true happiness for yourself.

But when you say "choose between happiness for yourself or your family", I guess that's not the real choice going on. When I distract myself with videogames, it isn't because I want to become a happier person, but because I am scared to think of something uncomfortable, like my tasks or responsibilities. So I just let my brain run on auto-pilot, and when it does that, it just goes for the quickest and easiest available reward. But a happy life is something different, it's when you are making your own active choices towards your own lasting happiness. As a human, you can be wiser than your monkey brain :)

So take a calm, relaxed moment to think about what you (not your family) really want your life to be like, and what kind of person you want to be in the long term. When you find yourself wasting time, maybe step away for a moment and check if you are moving towards that life or not, and what that person might tell you if they were there to guide you.

But don't be harsh with yourself. Treat yourself like you would treat a partner you love. Make your choices based on that love. Studying, like exercising, may be hard in the moment, but they are both ways to treat yourself with love; you can be proud of yourself for doing it.

And be gentle and encouraging to yourself when you slip back into your habits. Everyone struggles and disappoints themselves, but every step in the right direction is valuable.
