This time of year...

So my brother wrote a song when his friend died a while ago (2003 or something). His friend died in a car crash so the song was called 'Blacktop Obituaries'. The lyrics were obviously about someone who died in a form of car crash, but to a degree they were vague.

Vague enough that when my brother was hit by a car and died in 2012 the lyrics applied perfectly.

I love Halloween. Cold weather, ancient traditions, hidden identities: it's fun. It was his favorite holiday too. I'm always a little melancholy now this time of year (this year I'm doing a lot better managing my depression so yay that I guess).

I really should be writing an essay. But I just wish my brother were singing this song in person instead of me listening to it for the 20-somethingth time in a row.

Happy Halloween.

Hello; thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter!

I'm sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.

Halloween is cool; I hope you have a good time this year! I'm glad your depression was easier for you last year, though. And definitely, bereavement is super tough and it's natural that you wish he was here with you heart

Take care, and for when it comes, happy Halloween to you too!
