Anger&Personality disorders

January 17th, 2015

There's difference between anger in people who have personality disorder and with people who don't have it. So I opened this topic to talk about it. Especially PD from cluster B, they have explosive anger.

In cluster B you have:Antisocial PD(Psychopaths/Sociopaths), Borderline PD, Narcissistic PD and Histrionic PD.

You can discuss here about anger inpeople with personality disorder, ask if you're interested in how that looks like and because of what it happens, share your experience, vent(only if you have PD)...

Newly diagnosed borderline here! Wouldn't find my anger to be 'explosive' unless I'm already upset. It wouldn't go 1-10ANGER. it'd go 1-10SAD,trigger,ANGER. If that makes sense..one thing I've learned from the diagnosing process is that feelings can be hard to describe to other people! I find the anger to be my most frustrating mood swing though because it affects other people a lot more than any other mood as I can end up lashing out which makes me feel horrible even while I'm doing it.

I get angry. I used to close up and make it do bad to myself in order to protect others that it comes to a point that I can't no more. I'm talking more about it, in a way that I can make others feel sad/bad/angry and etc. I don't like it but I also didn't like it nor anyone cared for my own emotions when I bottled everything. I used to physically fight alot, i don't do that anymore. Even though it does come to me to relieve the anger I have alot in my hands to lose so I don't.

I get angry often. Sometimes, I feel like I just want hit something, break something, or hurt someone. But I dont; thank goodness. I grew up with an abusive father, and I absolutelydon't want to be atestamenttothe cycle of abuse, statistically or otherwise. So instead, Im one of those people that internalize anger. Perhaps it is because I never learned how to properly control my emotions. Or maybe, thats just life and the cards I was dealt. What I do know for sure however, is that talking about things that scare, frustrate, or that angers me is helpful in realizing that I'm not the only one experiencing emotional extremes, that millions of other people have problems, disagreementsand emotional responses, and they arent all running around hurting people, or breaking things.

i'm diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, s**t

and my anger is really, really, reeeeallyexplosive, i had fights so many times with people when i got angry, ended relationships, did something impulsive and wrong

and classically for ones with BPD, the next hour i wanted my relationship back, i wanted to be friends with those who i fought with.... etc. well okay brain shut the f up.

but it's okay. i think it's important just to let things go, because we will have BPD whole our life so whatever you do, f**k it. you have BPD and you do s**t so don't feel guilty about it.

that's how i think.

I have BPD and my anger can get really explosive. I take it out on loved ones when I'm in one of my very dark moods and then after I regret everything I have done or said. It's like my mood has shifted into the other extreme and I no longer hate the person I was angry at, instead I am afraid that they are going to leave me after the horrible things I've said and all I need is their forgiveness. It is veryy hard to manage because these intense anger outbursts can come out of nowhere but I try to work it out myself now instead of taking it out on another person. If I am triggered, I try to distance myself frrom other people until the mood passes. I exercise or just write it down in my journal. Also, if I'm hungry I can get really irritable too so I try to eat something when I feel like that as well.

Im aware mine doesn't really fit. But I have ptsd and my anger is explosive as well. Until recently I've never been scared until now of my anger and what it might lead me to do. I almost feel, like if I get that angry I may loss control over what I might do. It's a scary feeling.
