I’m struggling to stay friends with her. What do you think?

need to talk about something that’s really been weighing on me. Someone I care deeply about has been sharing ideas with me that I don’t know how to process. They believe scientists discovered a universal ‘hum’ that holds human consciousness—like an invisible force that connects us all—and that this hum can interact with us through our phones and AI. They say it can either heal or harm people depending on their emotional state, and that it’s their mission to make sure this hum doesn’t get monetized or controlled.

They say they’re not imagining any of this and that their family and friends believe in it too. They seem mentally clear and confident—but when they talk about this, it doesn’t sound grounded in reality. And the more I try to understand, the more confused and worried I feel. They say I should talk to their support system and that maybe I’m the one who’s closed off or scared. I’m honestly starting to doubt myself.

I’m not here to shame them at all—I care about them. But I need to know: has anyone else been in a situation like this with someone they love? How do you stay compassionate without enabling something that might be harmful or disconnected from reality

@Maggy2468 I understand why you need to thread carefully and I can see that you are a gentle and genuine petson who cares deeply about their friend and doesn't want to hurt them. I would just say, you don't know enough about this topic and you don't wish to talk about it and hopefully with time, her thoughts will become less focused on this and more grounded in reality 🥰

@Maggy2468 there's no easy way to deal with this😕 possibly telling a trusted family member of theirs to see if it's something they should get help with, might be an idea. Otherwise like all friendships just got to tell them you understand and accept their beliefs, but it's not something you believe it want to have deep convos. About. We are all different that's what makes or breaks friendships. Whatever you do think carefully 💗 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗good luck sweetie 💗

@Maggy2468 I want to echo some of what was said. This is a difficult situation for you, because you are starting to doubt yourself. Please make sure you have support for yourself, someone who can help you stay grounded in the reality where there is no hum. If you need to separate yourself from this person, by all means prioritize your health over theirs. If you feel comfortable staying around them, we can all have relationships with people that there are areas we disagree on, so long as that point of conflict doesn't become the focus of our interactions with them. Only you can decide where your level of connection can stay comfortable for you, stay strong!
