Question about healthcare.
Hello, I am 29 years old and I have social anxiety, depression, and OCD. I recently was filling out for healthcare on healthcare.gov, but I was unsure about something on the application. So, I thought maybe someone on this site could help me determine what I should do.
There is a part of the application where they ask you if you are disabled. I wasn't sure if I should say yes because I have never actually been diagnosed with social anxiety, depression, or OCD by a doctor/therapist. I have never been labeled by anyone as disabled. I have never gone to or talked to a doctor/therapist about my issues before. I haven't had health insurance for a while, and I also have never had a job before. So, I was never really able to go to a doctor/therapist to talk to them about these things.
So, should I say I am disabled or not? If I say I am what would happen then? Would they tell me I have to go get diagnosed? Would I officially be considered disabled? Are all of those issues that I have considered disabilities? Would saying that I am disabled help or hurt my chances of getting free healthcare?
I have also heard that it is very difficult to get on disability for social anxiety. Is that true? I barely talk to anyone, never had a girlfriend, never had a job, barely ever leave my house, and I get nervous in most social situations. My depression has caused me to consider suicide numerous times in the past; I have never attempted it though. My OCD issue just causes me to waste a lot of time. I pace back and forth in a room a lot and touch certain things over and over as I pass them each time; I do that for hours sometimes.
I just really need to get free healthcare so I can go to a doctor/therapist to get over my issues. So, could someone please help me determine what I should do. Thanks
I can help you @Joe47
@mustanglady How could you help me specifically? Back in November I filled out the application on Healthcare.gov, and they said that I was eligible for Medicaid. They said that someone would contact me to tell me the next steps to get Medicaid, but I never got contacted and I don't know what else to do now. They said that if I don't get contacted that I could contact a place called IDHS (Illinois Department of Human Services). I emailed them twice now and have not received an email back since. I also heard about a place that I might have to contact called ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility), but I am not sure if I should contact them or not.
Also, on my healthcare application that I filled out on healthcare.gov I didn't say that I was disabled. I wasn't ever diagnosed as being disabled so I figured I shouldn't put that I was on the application. I really want to get Medicaid because I found this place called Regional Mental Health that isn't that far from my house; they say they help people with mental illnesses get therapy and can also help to get a job. Their services cost money though, but I think Medicaid might cover the costs.
My friend, I'm sorry. I was depressed, too, but you have something else.
@Joe47
First, you can commonly leaf through a listing of mental healthcare companies which are part of your medical health insurance community at the business enterprise's internet site. This can ensure that you are going to get treatment from a person who's blanketed with the aid of your insurance.
Second, you could do an online seek via a listing list all mental fitness experts for your location. Typically, those will list more specific information on every expert than your insurance enterprise and let you pick out a therapist or counselor who is high-quality for your state of affairs.
And, ultimately, you could speak for your doctor to peer if there is anybody they could recommend to you. This manner you will have a company referral from every other scientific expert you accept as true with.
