Trying to cope
I am a horror and thriller writer. . .
However when I was first depressed, my first therpaist told me not to write such dark work. However I have noticed that since I given up on my darker pieces. . . I have been more and more angry at things.
I like to think that my dark writings help cope with my anger.
Should I write or should I write about something else?

Therapists can offer suggestions, some will work and some won't.
It's up to you what you want to stick to. If you're not doing so already a possibility is to track your moods and compare times when you're writing horror and thriller stories and when you're not.

I realized that doctors and therapist are trial and error.
@Rebekahwriter13 Yes, unfortunately that's true. Also, sometimes one has a doctor or therapist that is beneficial for them, but it doesn't mean everything a doctor or therapist suggests is correct. If they are good and you return and say x isn't working (in this case, avoiding writing about horror) they should be willing to acknowledge that nothing everything will work for everyone, not be offended and continue to find the things that do work for you.
Therapists can only offer suggestions for you to try, its up to you to discover if these suggestions are working for you or not, trialing them will identify whats best for you, ultimately the outcome is for you to decide. In comparison, look at some of the most successful musicians, whom have wrote some brilliant pieces on the back of heartbreak, or grief and in cases too, anger. Personally, I think its okay to write no matter what mood your feeling, it might just be your mood offering pieces of brilliance, who knows? :) @Rebekahwriter13
