It can be really hard when you are struggling and feel like your family doesn't understand. Unfortunately, this is a common problem. Do you feel like you can't talk to your family about your mental health condition or your feelings? Does anyone have any advice on how to handle a situation like this? What would you tell a friend who may be struggling with how to have an open and honest conversation about mental health with their family?

@lovelyllama13

Family understanding mental health seems to be a common issues with people who have mental illness, I've seen it on here, with friends and have had person experince with it. Number one is educating for sure! If they are internet savvy, having them read information on the diagnosis can be helpful. I have made a library of diagnosis information that anyone here who is having this issue can click here to see and if they may not understand internet then have them come to a session of therapy with you, or maybe even some family therapy, that way they can get more information on whats going on with you and can get any unanswered questions they may have about your diagnosis!

Boundaries. Lots of boundaries. Also knowing it's not because of you. It's because of a shortcoming on their part. So boundaries are VERY important. Talk with a professional about what boundaries are needed.
