YOU ARE NOT YOUR DISORDER!

I wish that everyone could understand this. I know it is a weird concept but you are not your disorder. Your brain reacts poorly to things due to the disorder. BUT IT IS NOT YOU.
You are not depressed.
You have depression.
At least this is how I like to look at it.
Maybe I am wrong?

I thank my wife for putting my having to take medication and needing help in the best way possible: It's no different than someone with diabetes or lupus or that has an amputation. My illness is just in the brain rather than being physical.
I'm not broken or wrong or anything like that and just like a diabetic taking insulin doesn't make them any less human, me taking my medication to be able to smile doesn't make me any less human.
