During Thanksgiving 16 years ago
During Thanksgiving years ago, my late aunt and I did not really have a traditional Thanksgiving. Instead, we caught a flight back home after being on vacation. Additionally, we were able to get on an earlier flight in which we sat in different seats with other passengers.
In my particular case, I sat next to two young children while their mother accompanied them. Not only was this mother very protective, but she was extremely rude as well. She refused to her kids and I talked throughout the duration of the flight. I was also not allowed to help them with their seatbelts. However, I can see why she might have been scared especially with all the human trafficking.
I was so hurt that I cried through that entire flight. Meanwhile, this mother had a smile on her face even though I was in tears. To make matters worse, my aunt was narcissistic and was very cold and dismissive about the whole thing.
In my opinion, I felt that the mother seemed to be a tad on the uppity side. It also seemed that if she was so scared of her young children talking to strangers then she should have asked the flight attendants to have us switch seats. However, if I would have done it all over again, I would have told the flight attendants to move me to another seat away from them. Believe me, I hated that experience. I would have also had her kids move closer to the window while having both of us switch aisle seats. That way, I would sit across from her because maybe we could have struck up a conversation.
Then again, she probably shut down the conversation because they were young kids. Additionally, it makes me wonder if she wasn't worried about human trafficking back then.
