Abby's Gratitude Journal
I would like to start making my Gratitude Journal right here on 7 Cups.
This will be an "open journal", so if anyone wants to read and reply, you can do so.
A dear listener friend of mine here made the suggestion to start a gratitude journal, and I really think it will be a great idea as well.
It is important, especially when times get difficult, to count our blessings and be thankful for what we already have. For example ... I've had to deal with the hurt of having some who I thought would be close friends not only stop talking to me, but lie to me about it and lead me on to believe that they would begin taling to me again. So ... what do I do? I think about the true and genuine friends that I already have and I am thankful for them ... including the one who suggested that I start a gratitude journal.

So, what am I thankful & grateful for today? Well ... it might not sound like much to be actually thankful for, but it was this morning at work when I had poured off some of the specimen from a primary tube into the wrong short sample cup for a shared specimen setup because I was rushing myself and didn't see that the short sample cup was not positioned next to the correct primary tube. I noticed my mistake relatively soon after, but not before some of the results autofiled ... meaning that I had to find the correct primary tube and then program the accession number it was to be shared with to run the tests for the correct sample, and then call the patient's floor and tell the doctor or nurse that I need to change the result in the cimputer. So ... WHY am I grateful for this when I had made a mistake that I'm not really proud of having made? Because I showed that I was not afraid to own up to it, make myself accountable for it, and do what I needed to do to rectify the mistake. ![]()

That sounds great, Abby. Journals always help. Owning up to mistakes is a very mature, humble, and strong thing to do. It's also the right thing to do. You'd be surprised with how many people that do not know how to admit to mistakes, simply because they do not have the courage or they're too prideful.
@BlueDusk99
Hey!
Thank you for reading & replying! ![]()
It is indeed important to recognize our shortcomings because we're only human and we make mistakes, and also I believe holding ourselves accountable when we mess up prevents us from the negative mindset of entitlement ... which is not the same as gratitude. ![]()
A very good and dear listener friend who I had been chatting with since late May suggested doing the gratitude journal as well as provided other very helpful resources for me to help me out of being stuck in a swamp of sadness. I'm not gonna tag him here or put his username here in order to respect privacy and also because he has to leave for selfcare break but remember that "Letter to a Friend" post I made in the Relationship board? He began chatting with me soon after that post and in my opinion really helped me move forward from that time in my life. ![]()

@AbbyHarris1976
No worries, and sorry for the super late reply. I'm having a hard time getting time to do other things. I hope you receive a lot out of this new journal.

Today, I posted on another forum thread about what I learned from being on 7 Cups, and if there's one thing that I immediately learned right when I joined last August, it was that despite the problems and struggles that brought me to 7 Cups that I was facing, I found out that I was not alone and that there were a lot of people who had similar issues and struggles.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to be able to discuss my issues and struggles here and know that I am not alone in doing so. ![]()

Today, I participated (and didn't just lurk
) in the Group Chat for the special 7 Cups birthday discussion that was being held in a special group chatroom. I was chatting with (or trying to ... it was hard for me to keep up, but that was expected and I think I held my own in there fairly well in that regard :D) several Listeners and Moderators that I recognize from sevral forums and feeds that I regularly post in, so I enjoyed participating today exen though it seemed like I was "bringing up the rear" of the pack at times in terms of keeping up.

. I am thankful for the opportunity to have done that and wished 7 Cups a happy birthday as well
@niceDaisy36
This is an open journal, so you and anyone else who wishes to read and reply can do so ![]()

I cannot promise that I will be able to reply back to any or all replies here because of my crazy and exhausting work schedule ... but I will try as I have time.
Also ... some of my entries later may seem redundant, but that's just because I'm always grateful for when God sends me true and genuine friends, for example.
So, you will likely read multiple entries here being thankful for that. ![]()
@AbbyHarris1976
Thank you so much for tagging me
.
This thread is really a good one to remember and be grateful to things in life
. I will reply more as well.
Have a good day ahead

I am thankful for those who work at the Fabiana's Bakery establishment, and the work they all do in preparing their items and serving the customers. ![]()
I went there for breakfast this late morning / early afternoon and enjoyed a quiet cake and coffee breakfast just chatting on 7 Cups sitting at a solo table by the windowside.
There are so many nice and delicious items there and there's a lot of hard work and dedication that goes into making those items! Thank you all who work there!

Im gonna keep this short and sweet because I had a rough day at work and will be working this weekend, so here goes ...
Im thankful for getting home safely after work 👍

Today, I was thankful to have a workday that was not as frenetically paced as many other workdays and I had time to talk and laugh with coworkers.
I don't have the time to do that on many workdays, which really deflates my morale, but I am thankful to have had the time today! ![]()

I liked the idea of the Bucket List thread on this forum because it gave me a chance to think about what I'm living for and what I really want to do with my life. To be honest ... I'm okay with living a living a simple life here in this city and not (or very rarely) going outside its boundaries. I would like to be involved with church community groups as well as more involved with my meeyup groups, particularly those that are also support groups, after I retire from work but I really am thankful for living a simple and (relatively) uncomplicated life.

I got a text from my friend Marie C while at dinner after work checking in to see how I was doing. It was great to hear from her and I've been meaning to check in with her.
It's always great to check in with friends after another crazy day at work, and that helps to check the workplace craziness at the door.
I have also been getting PMs throughout the day from my best friend and soul sister here on 7 Cups, too. I really enjoyed posting on the PM'er to her during lunch break today.

@AbbyHarris1976
Initially thanks for this wonderful thread😃.
It is so nice to hear that your friend texted you, hearing from good friends is always awesome.
I was planning to write in this thread since some days but was busy and hence couldn't reply as I was busy with university related works. Today I came to hostel and started my university.
I am grateful to people who never left my side and stayed with me, helping me to get through the various storms of life. I am grateful to 7cups as it always motivates and makes me smile. I am grateful to my family for staying with me when always no matter how many were or are against me in different stages of life. Am blessed to have my family by my side.
And am grateful to my long distance sister, who has helped me always since I met her. It's weird that I haven't met her but she has helped me the most in shapping me to be a person that am becoming day by day. Without her support, it would have been hard for me. She has helped me by providing mental support and a true stable friendship and am so grateful that she stayed by my side always.
Today I start my university, and am so happy to have my family, my sister with me and also am happy to be a part of 7cups that motivates me always.
@niceDaisy36
Thank you so much for posting here in this thread & everything you have shared! 👍😊
Stable and supportive friendships are exactly what we need more of here and Im grateful and happy to be providing that. 👍
@niceDaisy36
That sounds really great, Daisy. I am glad that you are getting support from your sister, no matter the distance. I hope you continue to move forward, and grow in all aspects of your life.
@BlueDusk99
Thank you so much for replying. I have had many fallen friendships, but she taught me that distance or face to face meeting up ain't necessary for a friendship to work, am glad she is there.
I also wish you the best for your life and career. Take care, have a good day ahead
